Today, it is a refined, five-star luxury hotel, with spacious rooms and
lobby furnished with antiques from the 15th and 17th centuries and precious artworks from around the world. During the 17th century, it was an outbuilding of the castle owned by the Orsini family, one of the oldest families in Rome. In the 1960s, it became the home of the American magnate J. Paul Getty. However, in the late 1980s, it returned to its current function of hospitality.
Built on a Roman villa whose rests can still be admired in the inside
hotel, today the hotel is composed of 19 rooms and suites and maintains
original furnitures and allows the guest to still breath the atmosphere of a noble private villa with its living rooms and tapestries.
La Posta Vecchia Hotel is a must among the hotels of the Rome area where history meets modernity: Rome by the sea, yet so close to the centre.
