They told us how to take the bus downtown, but failed to "add" you must get the ticket across the street from the newspaper stand. While we had 1.5 euros and tried to pay while boarding the public bus for our quick 10 mins ride downtown, this
didn't stop the Bus Police from taking us off the bus, demanding our passports and fining us $60 euros right there on the sidewalk. We complained to the hotel and the Italian police, both just told us it was 'too bad".
The hotel had limited English speaking staff. When I booked the hotel, I thought it was closer to town, however, it very close to a bus stop which took you all the way into the town. The room alough small (as most rooms in european hotels are),
was clean and efficient. There was a small pot to warm water for coffee or tea.
The hotel location was inconvevient-far from attractions and railway station. The concierge was not very helpful with directing us about the side trips we asked about or how to get to different places. Nobody seemed to care.
