Strozzi Palace Hotel Florence

I had two rooms booked for 7/31/11. We arrived and were led up the elevator then up a flight of stairs to the Michelanglo and Raphael rooms. The attic had been converted into two rooms. What a sick joke to name them in this manner. The rooms were unclean and shabbily furnished. The bed was a 3 inch matress on two low tables. There were holes in the sheet. They looked nothing like the pictures on the hotel web site. We immediately asked if there were other rooms available on a lower floor and were told there was not. We left for another hotel. There is no way we were going to stay in this dump. The hotel still charged me for a late cancellation. Beware if you choose this place.

The location was great. We were close to most of the museums and cathedrals as we as to the shopping. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom was huge for Europe and was very nice. I am a world traveler and other then Japan I have never got any toothpaste in any other hotels other then this one. Another huge plus was there was free wireless internet. Breakfast was decent. There was no curtain or walls for the showers so when you showered water got everywhere. Compared to the other services the towels were not great. Also the elevator was sort of small. All in all though I would highly recommend this hotel and on my next visit to Florence I will stay here again.

I am not too sure how this is a 4-Star hotel. Compared to the other hotels I stayed at during my travels through Italy, this would be a 2-Star or possibly 3-Star at best. The rooms were dingy, and the service was terrible. What really turned me off is that we were in a room on the top floor, and it was very warm and humid that day. The hotel claimed to have air conditioning in all of the rooms, but when we inquired about it, they said that their system can either be turned to heat or cooling for the whole building. Their excuse for not turning on the cooling was because they claimed they had lot of older people staying there and they like the heat on when they get out of the showers. Obviously a lie because they did not want to turn their system on. They also claimed they did not have a different room on a lower floor, but since you can tell if someone is in the room just by walking down the hall way and looking at the room's power system outside of the doors. It was obvious the building was half empty. On the plus side, it is located in a great location. I would just recommend any of the other dozen plus hotels within a couple blocks of it.

The room was very comfortable and the staff very helpful. They spoke enough English to communicate about anything that I might need.

This is not in my opinion one of the best four-star hotels in Florence but was good value for a three-night stay with one night free. The buffet breaklfast was adequate without being very exciting. The hotel has a lift from the first floor upwards, so it is not suitable for anyone who cannot walk up stairs.

For a European Hotel, Strozzi Palace had a very spacious room. It was very clean. Staff was friendly and courteous. Breakfast was good for European standards. There were different breads, cereals, juices and hard boiled eggs!!! Location was perfect. Easy to find and walking distance to most sites. I didn't even have to ride the public transport in my 4 day stay. At the good price I got from [your website] for this hotel, it was good value for money!

Perfect location, nice rooms, but poor breakfast buffet.
