Brother's 60th birthday celebration w/e

Would recommend Tue, Feb 2, 2016
Lovely welcoming hotel in a great location. Our room was small and a little noisy due to air con units outside our window. Each day we enjoyed a terrific breakfast with great choices of food. The service was warm and friendly and they even had decaf coffee with soya milk! Definitely visit again.

Great location. Very friendly service. Lower floor rooms were a bit noisy. Rooms are all fairly small. Enjoyed the complimentary happy hour. Breakfast was outstanding.

Fabulous hotel, restful stay

Would recommend Sun, Jul 19, 2015
I absolutely love Hotel Porta Rossa! The hotel itself is quiet, beautiful, restful, well-located, and it seems that every traveler's need has been thought of - the staff was courteous, efficient and friendly - the breakfast service superb...it is now my favorite hotel in Florence! I would say Porta Rossa is the perfect blend between modern efficiency and comfort and historic elegance.

Wonderful 3 nights in Florence

Would recommend Tue, Apr 21, 2015
Spent 3 nights in Florence at this wonderful hotel on Via Ponta Rossa minutes from the Ponte Vecchio bridge, high end shops and restaurants, and the Uffizi Gallery. We took a highly recommended day trip to the Tuscany towns of Siena, San Gmignano and Pisa. Beds were very comfortable and clean, with beautiful linens and many pillows. Bathroom was very clean and had a lovely shower. Did not dine at the hotel so I can't talk about that but would definitely return here next time to Florence

Great hotel for short stay

Would recommend Fri, May 16, 2014
At first very frustrating as couldn't find hotel even with goggle map but on phoning hotel they sent someone to find us! The entrance was only a small door. It is located near to the Spanish steps in a shopping district which although busy was not noisy during the night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was modern and all public areas were clean and attractive. The room was a good size as was the bathroom (shower only) but we had a suite so not sure of size of standard room. The buffet breakfast was fine for us but did get a bit the same after a few days, but not an issue. It would have been nice to have some form of outside terrace but this did not spoil our stay as we we're mainly there for the sights and was not expecting to have a leisurely break. Would definitely recommend hotel for a short break and if we go back to Rome would certainly stay there again. One piece of advice - restaurants nearby tend to be touristy so do your homework. Best area for eating to is Travestere at the other side of the river and would recommendDa Enzo restaurant, great food and not expensive - house red wine good!

Dining

Would recommend Travestere district for restaurants , especially Da Enzo. Good food and wine and friendly staff. Did not feel ripped off at all. When eating out we found most restaurants do not advertise the fact they have house wines which are usually good and a lot cheaper. Do not chose a chefs special unless you check the price. We chose a pasta dish at one restaurant which turned out to be 8 euros more than all the other similar dishes. Our fault as we were warned and apart from that the restaurant was good and house red only 9 Euros for a litre but it was not on the menu we only knew as the Italian family next to us ordered it.
