Great Location

The Hotel Hermitage is a quaint Hotel in a great location. It has a nice view from the roof top. The room was small and the bathroom was very small with only a stand-up shower. The breakfast was average.

THE best location in Florence!

If you want the absolutely best location in Florence, the Hermitage Hotel is it! This hotel is definitely a little known gem since the cab driver had to ask the policemen on the corner near Ponte Vecchio where it was, and they didn't even know, even though they were only 10 yards from it! After getting past the check-in procedure, which was a little awkward being on the 5th floor, we got into our room and fell in love with the cute antique furniture, the great view of the street (Ponte Vecchio was blocked out by the Corridoio Vasariano), and the awesome bathroom with a huge jacuzzi tub! This was all great compared to typical European rooms. The view from the rooftop veranda was spectacular! The hotel is nice and secure at night with two locked doors, and a security code to enter the elevator. We always felt safe. The only disappointment really was the limited breakfast offering they had. This is not a 5-star hotel, but it is a great deal for the cost, and in a great location, if I haven't mentioned that yet. We will plan to stay here again when we return to Florence!

The hotel recommended some great restaurants, and Osteria del Porcellino was one of the best dining experiences we had in our 10 days in 4 cities in Italy!

A great location next to Ponte

A great location next to Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi literally around the corner. Rooms are very small but the common sittng room on 5th floor is delightful and the porter is happy to prepare you a drink while you're up there relaxing or using the internet access on your netbook. Bathrooms are recently upgraded, the breakfast room is sunny and beautifully furnished and everything spotless. There's also a lovely rooftop area that would be great in warmer months. I would definitely stay there again. A tip for eating out - I found the less touristy restaurants in the side streets just across the bridge far better than the tourist traps around the main sights.

Great option, totally recommend it!!

I loved this hotel! It is perfectly located in front of the Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is a typical small Italian hotel, the atmosphere is cozy and very welcoming. It was quiet and peaceful and the staff was very helpful. The perfect hotel to stay in if you're visiting Florence.

Try the Osteria dell'Agnolo. It is a small, very Italian-looking restaurant just around the corner from the Duomo (in Borgo San Lorenzo); delicious appetizers, real home-made pasta, and very good house wine. Plus, prices are moderate.
