- The Hotel Gioia is located in the heart of the historic city, in one of the most convenient locations of any Florence hotel for visiting the old town center on foot. Just 5 minutes from the Duomo and the Baptistery, 10 from Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery, it overlooks historic Via Cavour, called Via Larga during the Renaissance when Florence's nobles and merchants choose it as the privileged site for building their sumptuous residences. Even today, you can see buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries, including the splendid Palazzo Medici-Riccardi. The royal palace of Lorenzo the Magnificent and the prototype for the Renaissance's civil architecture of austere aristocratic volumes, it is the jewel box that holds the precious frescoes of the Chapel of the Magi whose fabulous procession contains portraits of the Medici: the atmosphere of enchantment is exalted by a riot of color enhanced by the glitter of lapis lazuli and gold.

very family friendly
Gioia Hotel was great experience. My friend and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. They gave us a three person room so it was very roomy and big. The hotel was super clean. The staff very nice and friendly. They intorduced us two close by restaurants and they were both the best. one of them was family owned and very nice people. The price was good too. The hotel is right in the centre of the city. 5 minutes walk and you will be at Dumo. Defenitely we recommend this hotel.

Great value
This is a true value hotel... We stayed here for two nights as we made a rapid tour of italy. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the train station (awesome)... The hotel is very old and our first room smelled really bad and we complained and got a better smelling room (great customer service)... The owners were very nice... The rooms were very basic but clean... Bed was old but sheets clean and comfy... The bathrooms were new and clean... The breakfast was a real surprise since it was fresh and plentiful...they had cappuccinos!! ... Wifi was great and free.. Overall it is a really clean, well situated hotel with all the basics for a short stay on a budget... The staff was terrific and the breakfast was above average...

Average hotel in a great location
There are two great things about this hotel: the location (most of Florence's main attractions are a short walk away) and the friendly, helpful staff. Otherwise, it's a fairly average hotel. My room was reasonably clean but a bit cramped with very narrow twin beds that would have been more suitable for children than full-grown adults. It was also rather dark, but I did ask for a quiet room at the back. Apparently this means a room overlooking a small courtyard that doesn't get much direct sunlight. This wasn't a huge issue since I was out sightseeing for most of the daylight hours. All in all, it was a good base for sightseeing, but I wouldn't have wanted to spend too much time there.

Trés bonne adresse
Hotel trés bien situé : tout proche de la place du Duomo tout étant calme. Personnel souriant courtois et très à l'écoute du client. Chambre simple et confortable et propre. Le petit déjeuner est copieux. Il gagnerait à être un peu plus varié. Système de voiturier pour garer la voiture (bien pratique).

Excellent rapport qualité/prix
L'hôtel est placé à 200 mètres du centre ville de Florence (Duomo). A notre passage l'équipe était très agréable et laissait toute liberté au client (horaire, ménage, discretion). Si les chambres ne sont pas fastueuses, elles sont propres et fonctionnelles. Un peu de bruit pour celles sur la rue.
