Fantastic location!!!

Location is incredible just steps from Ponte Vecchio. This translates to some of the best world has to offer and as Florence is small it is walking distance to nearly everything. Must try Caffe Giacosa. Hotel staff very helpful always helps with dinner reservations confirmation calls, transportation schedules and such. Hotel is clean and modern rooms are well equipped and with free ethernet connection (you can rent free computer as well if it is available). Highly recommend after several visits.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Try to take a day trip to Maranello = Scderia Ferrari, Lamborghini factory not far from there as well (can enter it for a fee, as long as there is space limited number of guests per visit so check in advance)

Great location/trendy hotel

Excellent location directly across the street from the Ponte Vecchio and a short walk from the Duomo. Very walkable to everything. Clean and trendy/modern hotel. Some staff were a bit snooty, but overall accomodating.

Gallery Art Hotel was CLOSED!!

On the way to the Gallery Art Hotel I called to confirm my reservation. I WAS TOLD THE HOTEL IS CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS!!!! NO ONE AT ORBITZ INFORMED ME OF THIS BEFORE MY TRIP!!! IT IS A GOOD THING I CALLED AHEAD WHICH WAS ONLY 20 MINUTES BEFORE I ARRIVED AT THE GALLERY ART HOTEL. THEY SAID MY RESERVATION WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE CONTINENTAL HOTEL. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE STAFF AT ORBITZ THAT DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF THIS VERY VERY IMPORTANT CHANGE TO MY HOTEL RESERVATIONS. THE WHOLE EXPEREIENCE WAS QUITE UNNERVING!!!!!!!!

Excellent Hotel in Great Location

Having lived in Florence, I was very excited about the location of the hotel. It is in a perfect location that will allow you to walk to any points in the city center (you will NOT need a car). It is in a quiet corner steps away from the Ponte Vecchio. The rooms were very nice and clean and it did not feel like a typical European hotel room. Everything is very modern, the bathrooms were very nice, and you will want to bring the soaps home with you. I would suggest requesting a room with a balcony, this allows you to walk outside without leaving the room (helpful in the morning when determining what to wear for the day--just remember the hotel is in a shaded area so it will feel cooler than it actually is). The people at the front desk were very helpful and made dinner suggestions/reservations for us. The bar/lounge is also very nice just expect to pay hotel prices for drinks/food. The breakfast buffet was great and had options for every type of eater.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Florence is a city where you will absolutely do some shopping. Before you leave for your trip, I would suggest packing a duffel bag that you can use to bring back the wonderful things you buy. Use the duffel bag for dirty clothes and pack the new items in your suitcase (more protection if there is something breakable). All the street vendors are willing to negotiate and typically will give you their lowest price at the end of the day. the leather market by Mercado Centrale typically is about 10% cheaper than the market around the corner from the hotel.
