Donatello Hotel Florence

when we arrived at this hotel for check in , there was no room available eventhough we had reserved online and all paid in advance. they send us to the hotel next door which is way inferior. the hotel manager made us pay for occupancy taxes claiming that our online reservation does not included in it. the room is very small n not clean.

Staff and Manager not trustworthy and unable to rectify a incompatible room for a two nite stay which was pre-paid for $170.00. This staff is not trustworthy >they should be taken off this sites referral list , which to date, has not been done. This is a one star hotel that I would advise to "AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE" STAY AWAY from this place since they do not honor the room rate with an acceptable room or accommodation as promised for the International Traveler

The hotel has a great location, however some members of the staff were not very friendly. The breakfast wasn't good at all and the bread was old. There was a air conditioning in the room but the control didn't work since it was controlled by the hotel's staff. The hotel has a weird smell and the internet connection is not free and is not very good (we had very bad reception in our room).

I stayed here after moving down from 2 nights in fiesole...I wish I had stayed where I was!! Hotel manager was beyond rude, location is very studenty and room is very small and hotel needs an urgent face lift!

Hotel is well located for Florence attractions. There is a big and calm park in front of it which is suitable for kids and elderly people. Breakfast is generous and facilities are OK. Internet wireless is expensive (I paid E$10 for 2 hs) which only works in the lobby and rooms nearby. The only problem I had with this hotel is with the air-con system. I haven't seen any hotel that we need to call the front desk to turn on and off the air-con!! One night I asked to turn on and the reception phone was always engaged so I could not turn it off. After changed and walked all the way to the front desk, we "discover" the phone was out of the hook! In the following night there was a problem with the computer and they could not turn the air-con off!!! There was no other means to turn it off so I need to half sleep the night with the wall unit blowing cold air and producing noise... I might had a bad luck, but this is a stupid system without any practical reason for it.

traveled with husband and 3 and 7 yr old....spacious room...online i could only book a triple...wasn't sure if they were going to charge for my 3 yr old..when we got there the owner charged us about 22 euro a day for the 3 yr old...and explained it was necessary for the city tax/towel/breakfast/etc...our salzburg and venice hotel didn't charge a thing for our 3 yr old...so it was obviously owner discretion...room was fine..large enough to add an extra bed..bathroom was newly redone...air conditioner worked fine during heatwave (had to call reception to turn it on)good location for price.not too far from city center.10 min. straight walk from train station.both kids walked with ease...10 min. walk from accademia...if seeing david make a phone reservation with the museum directly to avoid crazy lines and surcharges that online sites charge..plus, more time slots are available via phone...the phone operators speak perfect english and we were able to book 8:15am reservation with only a 4.5 euro surcharge/ticket...best museum for kids is the leonardo da vinci hands on museum...just 5 min. from accademia..also right next to a grocery store...we stocked up on drinks and left them in the hotel mini fridge...hotel is a 1 hr train ride to pisa....kids enjoyed seeing leaning tower (must be 8 to climb tower and have reservation) and playing in the shaded grass areas....

The hotel is located in a good place, but has a problem taxis are not be able to drop you off in front of the hotel. You have to walk and carry your own luggage, because the street is closed. They gave us a nice room close to the elevator and the reception, you were not be able to sleep because every time the phone ring at the reception you can hear it at the room, also y if someone talk at the elevator or when up and down you hear the elevator. The owner is a nice gentlemen, but the lady that work for him on the front desk she was not nice, at all.

The room was large and very quiet. The location is excellent. We were able to walk to all of the amazing sites within the City. Good food and entertainment were also close at hand. Florence has lots of water, and as a result, also has plenty of mosquitoes. Expect them in your room if the windows are opened. Our room experienced its fair share of mosquitoes before we arrived as evidenced by all of the bodies smashed on the walls and ceilings. If you are looking for a late-night protein infusion, then this might be appealing. For ambience, the mosquitoe guts were a distraction. Breakfast offerings are good, but get in early. Some of the guests empty the bread, meat and cheese preparing lunches for their daily adventures and wipe out breakfast for the rest. VERY ODD! Also, the coffee and juice machines dispense one cup at a time, so be patient. The woman who runs the breakfast room can be cranky, but considering some of the guests, it might be understandable. Be patient and smile, they really have a lovely place in a terrific location. Just a couple of little annoyances.

Well located. Not too fAR from the train station.... Good value... nice breakfast included... located in front of a park...

Hotel location was great for a couple in early 30's looking for the tourist sites, quiet back streets to stroll through, cafe's, shopping, scooter hire, and restaurants. Parking was available in a parking station two streets away (3mins walk), but was pricey (but expected for Florence) at EUR28 per night (was safely locked up with equipment still in the car). This hotel was average in most things such as facilities and service but sufficient for a comfortable stay.
