Hotel Collodi is a lovely little hotel located in historical center of Florence, in the St. Lorenzo district, it is an approximately 5 minutes walk from the Santa Maria Novella central train station and congress and exhibition center and to the most important sights and museums. All rooms have private bathroom (shower and wc) and are tastefully furnished in typical Florentine style with the details to create an elegant and warm atmosphere. The beds are made made in wrought iron. Every room is equipped with TV with CNN, mini bar, telephone, air condition and private safe. The management accurately checks the furniture, accessories and rooms. Hotel offers guest a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning. The professionalism and competence of the hotel's staff will make the holiday in Florence lovely and unforgettable. The staff provides also reservations for Uffizi Galleries, Pitti Palace museums and Academy of fine arts. Parking in a private garage is near the hotel on request. The amenities provided by the hotel are Concierge, free Internet access, laundry service, non smoking room on request, parking facilities at supplemetary cost, pets allowed and reception and safe deposit box.

The Taste Florence tour was fun and informative. We used the knowledge we gained there on the rest of our trip.

Excellent Location

This is a nice hotel - not fancy, but perfectly fine for a 4-night stay. The hotel staff is excellent: helpful, attentive, professional. We booked a less expensive room, with a pretty small double bed and another loft room that we never used. We peeked at larger rooms when the cleaning staff had the door open, and the other rooms were very nice. Book one of those rooms, but expect to pay more. Our bathroom was large by European standards, with a large tiled shower. The continental breakfast was good. Helpful Hint: put yogurt over the oatmeal raisin cereal, not milk. The hotel location is excellent - close to the train station and Duomo, not far from the Uffizi Gallery. For a special treat, walk over the Arno River on one of the fine bridges and explore the hillsides, away from the maddening crowds.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Of course, there are many, many sites in Florence, including the historical galleries and museums and leather shops/stands. But if you are a "foodie," DO NOT MISS the Mercato Centrale, just a short distance from the hotel. This shopping center (really, more like a huge farmer's market) rivals Pike's Market (Seattle), Granville Island Public Market (Vancouver) and the St. Lawrence (Toronto) for excellent food, bakeries, food stands / restaurants. If you are tired of Italian food (and if so, there is something wrong with you), try the German brot place (Wurstie's?) for a change of pace.

Collodi hotel in florence

We had a great experience at Collodi. The hotel was perfectly clean and beautiful. We were in a perfect location---just a few blocks from Accademica (where the David is) and an easy walking distance to the Duomo, great shops and restaurants. There is no reason I would not recommend it.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

I would note that the walk from the train station is more like 10 minutes with luggage, especially if the neighboring market is crowded. I would still choose walking over taking a cab if you factor that in.
