Short drive from hotel
Agua Al Due Restaurant for great Italian food. It is within walking distance but we would recommend a cab since it is a little difficult to find. Make reservations, this place is very popular.

Good stay
We visited Florence this August and our stay at the best western was great! It is close to the Santa Maria Novella train station which allowed for convenient day trips out of Florence. Also, it is located in the heart of the city and we were able to walk to all the major attractions with ease. Walking in Florence is fun any way :) The other good thing about the place was their breakfast buffet. Fresh hot food was served up everyday and it was a wonderful way to start the day. The staff was friendly and knew good English, which was helpful. They dont have room service for lunch/dinner, but the area has loads of Tuscan restaurants, so that's not a problem. The only issue we had with the hotel was the unbelievably small shower rooms! We ended up banging into the glass walls of the shower room as it was THAT SMALL. Overall, a decent stay!

Hotel Palazzo Ognissanti
We stayed at the hotel while we were in Florence for 2 days. The hotel was hard to get to via car but so is everything in Florence. The hotel staff understood English, the free breakfast was great and clean, our room had a little patio and the room was spotless with a great bathroom. The location was a bit of a walk from the center, but we prefer less noise and more relaxation. There was an elevator and air-conditioning. The staff was extremely nice.

Go to Il Latini - quiet little restaurant with lots of character. One of those places where they just start bringing you food and it's all great. They understand English! Make sure you eat dinner late wherever you - that is what people do in Italy.

Better than average
Staffs were friendly and there were a welcome cookie bag and bathroom sleepers. It's located in 10 min walk from Firenze SMN station. Breakfast was nice, but I wish there was self-serving coffee because we needed to wait for a staff to serve coffee.

I think we would have had a quieter
I think we would have had a quieter night's sleep in a tent outside! Despite double glazing, we could hear everyone passing by outside, and their conversations, sirens, cars, scooters. We were on the ground floor, no idea whether higher floors are any better. It was conveniently located, we walked to everything with no problem.
