Worst experience EVER

Would not recommend Wed, Sep 9, 2015
I have traveled to over forty countries in my lifetime and must have stayed at over 60 different hotels. Never EVER have I been treated so badly in a hotel. I booked and PREPAID this hotel about a month in advance...I arrive on check-in date and am told sorry, we gave your room away...tried to explain to them basics on contractual obligations and they just laughed and said THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. But they were nice enough to book me a hotel which was 20-30 cheaper and without all the amenities that were in Boscolo (mainly rooftop view of florence/duomo)...and of course with no refund. TO MY FELLOW TRAVELERS...STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE

Enjoyed our stay

Would recommend Thu, Oct 3, 2013
Astoria was a little pricey once tax and all was included but we enjoyed our stay. The staff was wonderful and the hotel was in a good location with solid windows to keep out the bustling streets of Firenze. The big room, bed and bathroom were a huge pluses because traveling in Europe can be tight. We loved the roof terrace for a romantic glass of wine and would definitely come back but budget better for the hotel.

Dining

Visit Restorante Paoli not far from Astoria for delicious Northern Italian food. Try the ribbolita and the insalda mista to start!!!!

Fantastic location

Would recommend Wed, Jun 12, 2013
This hotel is in an ideal location--it's an easy walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station and about three minutes from the Duomo and other key Florence locations. The hotel staff is gracious and very helpful, and the common areas are quite nice: the breakfast room is decorative and ornate, and the terrace bar offers an extraordinary view. Overall, the hotel offers a good value for its price and location.

Couldn't have been more convenient

Would recommend Sun, Feb 24, 2013
Very comfortable, extremely friendly helpful staff, and the room had a view of the Duomo and Campanile.

Dining

Lorenzo de Medici restaurant, just along the road. Unpretentious, friendly, inexpensive, and good food.

Special birthday treat

Would not recommend Wed, Nov 28, 2012
The first room we were given was very inconvenient with the wardrobe on one floor and the bed at the top of a spiral staircase. There was no window with natural light and the room was unbearably hot with no means of adjusting it. Upon making a complaint however we were given a better room although not what I would expect from a first class hotel. The breakfast was no more than adequate and not included and overpriced. These things are compensated for by the excellent location, however not a 'four star'

The location and cleanliness were great. The one inconvenience was that wireless internet was only available in one room of the lounge area.

Astoria Hotel

Would not recommend Tue, Oct 9, 2012
This is a really old, beautiul hotel ... a true Italian hotel. Rooms are beautiful .. we had a great view. The onlly problem was is that they overbook here. They were kind enough to send us to another lessor hotel for one night and they came and got our things and moved them to the Astoria for the next two nights stay. I had paid for my room in advance and did not appreciate the fact that they overbooked and had no room for us. I would think twice next time due to the inconvience.
