Local Flavor in Boutique Hotel

Our room was small but adequate since most of our time was away from the hotel. The hotel is centrally located to many must see sites. It's located in an alley that directly leads to the Duomo.The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Towels were changed daily. The bed sheets we had to ask to change after 4 days. The air conditioning didn't really work until the last couple of days of our 7 day trip. So, the room was rather warm through the night. We usually like to keep the windows open. But,the street noise does come in loud and clear. There's a local guy who stays up all night at the street corner and greets everyone with a "Buonasera. Ganza, ganza!", who walks by. Students coming back from a Thursday, Friday or Saturday drinking night on the town make quite a bit of noise too. All part of the local flavor and you will get used to it. It does make you wonder if students in Florence ever study. The hotel service is very helpful and friendly. [...] were particularly very welcoming. The small things, such as restaurant recommendations and helping with reservations, helping you locate certain sites, purchasing train tickets for you, calling a taxi, all add up to excellent service.Breakfast is in a cafe operated by the hotel. [...] makes an excellent capachino and has wonderful pastries. On weekends breakfast is served in a separate room downstairs and is more relaxing than the cafe. Overall, it was a pleasant experience at the hotel. [...] really made a difference in having our first trip to Florence a memorable one. We took photos of our hosts and will always remember them for their wonderful service.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Il Caminetto Ristorante, Via Dello Studio, 34/r, www.ilcaminettofirenze.it Minnestrone and the rabbit were excellent - goes well with chianti. The lamb shank,(Osabucca) BVCA-S-Givanni at Piazza S. Giovanni, 8 is very good -pricey but very good. Both restaurants within 10 minutes from hotel walking.

Great location for the price

We had a great time in Firenze, the location of the hotel made it really easy. We walked almost everywhere. I highly recommend it.

The mostly good, some bad but no ugly

The hotel was extremely well located. We got good recommendations for traditional restaurants. The food was never disappointing. We walked just about everywhere (sights, restaurants). The cafe service was fabulous! Exceptional pastries! Some problems with the communications between [...] and the hotel. We had to pay 1000 Euros up front. Hopefully this is now resolved. Our flight out of Florence was at 6:50 am. We thought we had to be there three hours early. As it turned out, the airport doesn't open before 5:00 am., so we waited outside the airport for two hours!
