Great location for a short stay

Aside from the small bathroom and extra small shower stall, this hotel was great! We only stayed a couple of nights, but wanted some where that was close to the train station, and boy! was it close. From the terminal exit to the front door of the hotel took all of 90 seconds to reach. Our room had a balcony, which faced the train station and Piazza Stazione. The front desk service was very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was well proportioned with plenty of pastries, juice, water, coffee/cappuccino, and cold cuts - which takes a little getting used to for breakfast. While there, we hopped on the train for an hour 20 min ride to Pisa to see the leaning tower for less than 13euro R/T.

Sightseeing tip: Long walk from hotel

While in Florence, it is a must that you go to Piazzale Michelangiolo at night, which is about a 30 min walk from the train station. The piazzale overlooks the city and provides an absolutely magnificent view of the city at night. There are also restaurants up there to take in the sights and have some good food.

Unhappy experience for a good location

Found the location of the hotel right the way from the train station. However, the hotel could not find our reservation on their record even though we showed our own copy of reservation record. We arrived in the morning; but could not not check-in our room & were told to come back after 3:00 pm. Luggage was stored in the hotel but NO tag number was given. We left the luggage & went out to explore for this beautiful city. We went back in the evening & the hotel staff asked us to walk to a neighboring hotel for check-in which was OK with us. However, it took more than 40 minutes for them to send back our luggage. When we scheduled a wake-up call at 6 am the next day, the staff commented, "it is too early"--& we did not get the wake up call! So, we woke up ourselves at 7:00 am & had to take a later train to Milan. What would happen if we had to take a plane? Also, the shower-door is a joke as it is only partially enclosed--water spilled over & making the shower area like a reservoir! Compared with our stay in other 2 Italian cities in this trip, this was a lousy experience!

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

For Euro20, take the one-day bus tour around the city is an excellent deal & experience. You can hop on & off within 24 hours after you bought the ticket. You can buy the ticket at the hotels or at the stops of the tour bus route.
