A modern hotel right on the coast,
A modern hotel right on the coast, not far from the centre of Pompeii and Naples. The hotel is not difficult to find, but it is located away from the hussle and bustle so a car is required. The facilities are great and the rooms are large, clean, modern and have views of the bay. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful and speak English well. The restaurant has nice nice views, a good menu, great service and is reasonably priced. Overall, it is a good place to stay if wanting a modern and functional hotel with a bit of peace and quiet but is not too far from the main tourist attractions in the Naples/Pompeii area.

My Crowne Plaza Hotel STABIAE trip
I read several reviews of the Crowne Plaza that didn't like its location, being too far from the tourist hot spots, and I can agree with that, if your idea of location is stepping outside your door into a horde of fellow travelers or sitting on your terraces and becoming part of someone else's travel photos. If you want restful and remote, yet easily accessible to anywhere on the Sorrento Coast with a few short hops, this is the hotel for you. First of all, the terrace of our room, the hotel plaza and terraces, and the pool, all have Mt. Vesuvius as a backdrop, along with the night lights of the Bay of Naples. Every night we were there we were treated to at least three fireworks displays somewhere on the opposite shore of the bay. We were told they were Saint's Day celebrations, or weddings, or birthdays. The Italians plan their weddings on their days off, so they can occur on any day during the week. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided a timetable of shuttle to and from the hotel that allowed a guest to connect to the trains, which were very clean, cheap and ran on time, or took you directly to Vico Equense or Sorrento. We used the train to visit Pompeii, instead of our planned guided tour, and saved about $300 euros. Our room was a suite, kept immaculate by the housekeeping staff. I had to tell the girl cleaning the room that the money I'd left on the nightstand was for her after the second time she'd left it untouched (my wife informed me it's tradition to leave it on the bed). This was a great trip and the weather was fantastic.

Dining tip:
Short drive from hotel
Don't pass up Vico Equense if you stay at this hotel. The hotel has a shuttle that will take you directly to the train station there and pick you up 2 or 4 hours later and there are several nice restaraunts within three or four blocks of the station. Dining in Sorrento was good, but very impersonal. The staff in the Vico Equense restaraunts were very friendly and seemed honestly gratefull for our patronage. About 90% of the businesses on the Sorrento Coast take a break from business between 3 and 7 and reopen in the evening. We didn't know this and showed up at a pizzaria at about 5. The owner sold us a bottle of wine and gave us a couple of glasses so we could sit on a overlook above the bay and enjoy the wait for our meal. I say "sold" but he actually opened and handed us the bottle and told us we could pay later. This was at Cesare's. Hint within a hint: the medium-size of their pizza is 2 feet long. Try Tito's as well. The food was great and the staff was very nice to a couple of Italian travel novices that showed up again before the 7:00PM reopening bell.

disapointed
I was very dispointed by the hotels location in terms of the proximity to the center of town. The hotel was 4 km from Castellammare and over 10 km from Sorrento. The hotel itself was very beautiful, the staff was nothing but helpful, but the hotel was not very easily accessible without a car (which we did not want to have while in Sorrento) I was also disapointed in the hotel charging for the use of the swimming pool
