Not far from the Hotel Bussola di Hermes, along the typical narrow lanes of Anacapri, one can reach Damecuta, once the Imperial Residence of Tiberius, now one of the most enchanting places from where to admire the scenery of Capri, a landscape where sea and nature seem to unite for eternity. From Damecuta the sunset is simply spectacular!
A few steps and one arrives as the stop for buses heading to the Grotta Azzurra and the Gradola Bathing establishment.

Nice quiet spot outside of the main drag
The staff at the hotel were so kind and answered all our questions. The building itself is a bit of a hike from the bus stop, but takes you through some piazzas where you can see locals talking it up! Our room was spacious, but it was a bit hard to get to the toilet which was sandwiched behind the bidet and the shower. We were pleasantly surprised when we found out we could order a second cappuccino at breakfast! Yum! Overall my wife and I found Anacapri to be much more fun and relaxing and cheaper than Capri, so I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the island and not break the bank too much.

There is a festival called Settembratte that is at the end of August and beginning of September, about 10 days. If you go during that time there are nightly activities like dance shows and progressive dinners.

Beautiful island, hotel decent
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They greeted us with complimentary fruit juice which was very refreshing. After check-in the lady at the desk gave us lots of great advice on the best things to see and do in the area. In particular her restaurant recommendations were excellent. We knew in advance about the Blue Grotto and the chairlift to top of the mountain, but she gave a great recommendation that we go to Faro for a swim. Just what the doctor ordered on a very hot day. Bear in mind that it is probably about a quarter mile walk from the nearest road that a taxi can drive on. Plenty of scooter traffic, but not reachable by car. I don't know why some websites say the hotel has parking available. Not that many visitors would have a car anyway. Biggest disappointment was that we had to pay 10 euros a day to get air conditioning in the room. Even after paying for the AC we still sweated quite a bit, and we had to have them come to the room again to adjust it (the guest does not have control over the thermostat). Breakfast was also a disappointment, given that it was the most expensive hotel we stayed at in Italy.

Long walk from hotel
The Blue Grotto seemed to be close by when I did my online research. However, it is very hilly and very hot. But with the staff's advice it was very easy to use the island's bus system (1.40 euros per one-way trip, and you can buy tickets on the bus). The Grotto itself is a beautiful natural wonder, and we had a charming guide who sang to us while we were inside. It was the kids' favorite thing we did in Italy.

We really enjoyed our stay in a family room in this hotel. Despite my worry after reading reviews, the access was not too difficult once you know the way. Very convenient for Grotta azurra. Beautifully decorated and fantastic view from lovely roof terrace. Rita has planned all our days for us. There is a small grocery shop nearby so you can get some panini ready for lunch.

fabuleux, les amateurs d'art seront
fabuleux, les amateurs d'art seront ravis, très bel hôtel, propre et agréable, l'accueil y est chaleureux, on s'y sent très bien loin du brouhaha des boutiques de capri, très bien situé pour se reposer ou se promener le long de la côte et un prix très raisonnable pour la beauté des lieus et un service irréprochable.
