One of the most beautiful places!
Island Girl Oct 21, 2009
We absolutely loved the Caesar Augustus property and felt it captured the best of Capri. The views were amazing and the ... staff was helpful above and beyond. The breakfast was perfect. We love Relais & Chateaux properties and this one lived up to all our expectations. The hotel arranged our dinner reservations - one which was particularly wonderful and, again, captured the essence of Capri. We were only on the island for a couple of days so just walked around both the town center of Capri and Anacapri. This was our first visit but I am confident we will visit again. Truly magical - I feel as though I could live there for the rest of my life.

There are many local vendors to buy beautiful things from. I would not go to Capri to buy designer items but local things. Wonderful soaps, perfumes, sandals, pottery, etc.

Highlight of our Italy trip
Wendy Jul 3, 2009
We (husband, daughter 14, and son 11) were on a relatively tight budget during our two week trip to Italy, but this hotel was ... worth the splurge! Our two rooms cost @ $900 dollars out the door, but my entire family agreed that it was worth every cent. (And, if this hotel was located in the United States, it would certainly cost a lot more.) The staff was hands-down the best that we encountered during our trip; they all spoke flawless English and were extremely welcoming and helpful with information. If you do stay at this hotel, CALL when you arrive on Capri and they will come and pick you up at the Marina. We weren't aware of this, and spent a lot of unnecessary time and money finding transportation to the hotel. The views that they show on the website are just as amazing (my son is reading this over my shoulder and says I should "even more amazing" in person. The included breakfast is fabulous; we ate dinner in the city of Capri (Caesar Augustus is located in the "city" of Anacapri) so I can't comment on the food in the restaurant, but it is set on the cliff with great views. (Looked like it would be great for a romantic dinner; not so much a kid place.) Checking out, I met a couple that traveled a lot. The woman commented that normally she never goes back to the same location twice, but that she would come back to the Caesar Augustus.

If you are a shopper, the high end stores are in the town of Capri (five minute expensive cab ride), not Anacapri. But make sure you take the chair lift that is in Anacapri-beautiful views.

Most Fantastic View

The hotel is high above the water built into a cliff. The balconies appear to hover 1,000 feet over the water - it's truly ... amazing. You can see both the sunrise and sunset, and on a nice night, having dinner brought in through room service and served on the balcony is a great treat. We enjoyed the Blue Grotto - touristy, but a hoot. And enjoyed taking the chairlift up to Mount Solera and walking down. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent, but very expensive. The restaurants in town (a 5 minute walk) are just fine.
