Hotel Costazzurra

The Hotel Costazzurra is situated in San Leone, the Lido area of Agrigento. My family and I stayed there two nights during the tail end of three week European vacation. The hotel is located in a questionable area - not unsafe, just tired and worn. The parking is across the street in a gated dirt lot with occassional, apparently tame, stray dogs as occupants. The hotel property itself is clean and well kept, but our room had a slight musty odor to it, which we had not encountered in our entire three week tour in Europe. The continental breakfast was just mediocre compared to others. However, we did have a nice dinner at their on site restaurant. The location of the hotel is ideal for visiting the beach or the Valley of the Temples, which is why I initially selected the hotel. We did not have much time to see either of those areas due to visiting family, but the temples are wonderfully lit up at night. All in all, the Hotel Costazzurra is a decent hotel, but I would stay somewhere else next time.

This hotel is not situated at the beach as its name might imply. Neither is it located in the city itself. It is however convenient to the Greek temple Valley of the Temples one of the outstanding features of Agrigento. The hotels owner was very stingy with the air conditioning and had to be reminded to turn it on, this in the middle of a record breaking heat wave. Some of the food was Ok, but some was terrible. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

hôtel pas cher pour la région, très bien pour dormir car très calme, les environs ne sont pas beaux, le personnel est sympa, il y a de très bons restaurants en bord de mer ( je recommande "Al Porticciolo" via lungomare San leone, cuisine locale très bonne et peu chère comparée à son voisin "Il pescatore")nous n'avons pas testé le restaurant de l'hôtel.

We booked a double room for 2 people, we got a single room in which they add an additional bed. Therefore, it was nearly impossible to walk into the room (2 m² free) and we had to climb the bed to get into the toilets/bathroom. The bathroom was really dirty (moisture everywhere) like the room which was not cleaned behind the door and under the desk/bed... Even though the hotel is well placed (500 m from the beach), it is quite old and facing a very noisy avenue (noise all the night) and a building under construction. The hotel is quite far away for the valley of temple (10 minutes by car) and from Agrigento historical city center (15-20'). The pricing of this hotel is not related to the service. When we left the hotel (unhappy of course), the receptionist gave us a bottle of wine "to help us to forget about everything" !
