Good hotel, good location

Very comfortable, clean accommodation. Excellent buffet breakfast! Located right on the new light rail line to the old city, ten minute walk (or one stop on the light rail line) to the central bus station. Short drive to the Israel Museum and Yad Vashem. Relatively car friendly! Some free parking, but be careful of the blue and white kerbs. Parking tickets can be expensive.

Conveniently located

The Park Hotel is very conveniently located near the entrance to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. It is near the Israel Museum, Hebrew University and not too far from the Old City. It is reasonably priced with satisfactory amenities. The staff is very cordial and helpful. While parking is sometimes a challenge, it is available which is not always easy to find in Jerusalem.

mediocre

The hotel is crammed between major roads, and so the rooms are noisy. The building is just clean enough not to be considered dirty.

Better than the sidewalk

We decided to go to Jerusalem at a peek time at the last minute and this was about all we could get, for good reasons. However, if you want to go there when few (cheaper) accomodations are available, this will do, as long as you know to expect the minimum. We slept on the floor on twin mattress and box springs, but they were comfortable. The room had not been updated since at least the 50's, but when things broke (the AC, the toilet), they had very capable repairmen who came quickly and fixed things well. The staff overall was not present at the least and when we occassionally did encounter them they were curt and hostile. We ate breakfast at the buffett (included) every AM but they were higly skilled at removing the flavor from all the food. Tried to eat the dinner buffet twice and drove elsewhere for food the rest of the time. You have to have a rental car to stay here - 1. because you will have to eat somewhere else; and 2. because nothing is close by. In short, this was our hostel since the hostels were all booked up.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

About a 15 - 20 minute drive to the Old City as long as the traffic is not horrible.

An OKay place

Not very new. breakfasts okay by Israeli standards. Staff only cares for religious Jewish people. Party at the dining room (court) every night, sometimes gets noisy. Parking off street, not very convenient (have to ask security open and close old-fashioned chained entrance). Location only good if you drive to the city center. No pool, but they have free tickets to a local University's campus pool. The bald man at the reception has short answers for every questions not helpful at all. Wi-fi Internet DOES NOT work in the room, neither in the lobby, have to get login and passwords every 24 hrs, and the connection drops unexpectedly too often and slow speed. Overall good place for spending a night, exceptionally they have queen size beds and not the separate (like in most Israeli hotels) beds. Staff always busy helping somebody, very long wait lines... Obsessed about Shabbat and Kosher stuff.... Still recommend!

As Advertised

The hotel was exactly as described by other visitors, both the good and the bad. The one thing, though, that I did not like was that our room faced the entrance to the Begin Expressway, and the noise from the cars was louder than I had expected from the location. Other than that, the stay was excellent, with very nice service, and a great Deluxe breakfast added on for free!
