Conveniently located adjacent to the centre 1 mall, the central bus station and the Israeli Convention centre, this property is suitable for business or leisure stay. The conference and dinning room floor has been totally renovated. A V shaped, stone building with ten floors typical of this part of Jerusalem The hotel is situated at the entrance to Jerusalem, five minutes walk from the Central Bus station shopping mall, many restaurants and the new congress centre, Binyanei Hauma. A perfect location for both the leisure and corporate traveller with easy access to all the major religious and touristic sites

Never again

The room was dirty. It was noisy, even with ear plugs in. The lobby and restaurant was overcrowded with constant bus loads of people coming off tour buses. The only reason people continue to go to this hotel is because it's relatively inexpensive. But, it's not worth it, I'll pay the extra few dollars and go somewhere else next time.

Unpleasant Stay

The room's amenities were 1 step above shabby. Parking was a nightmare, and I was not given any helpful information when I requested it! I arrived at about 4:30am requesting that I might have the room 'till 5 pm. I was told not to worry. At 11:00 am I received a phone call telling me to leave. When I asked again if I could have the room longer I was told I'd have to leave by checkout time.

Kosher Hotel

This hotel is perfect for Datieem people. There is a mikve in the hotel, a minyan on Shabat and also the Shabat meals are very good. The price is excelent for what you get, if you compare to other hotels. Is is 20 minutes by taxi from the Old City. It is almost not possible to walk to the Old City on Shabat, but during the week is a 30-40 NIS cab trip.

Beautiful Lobby, Shabby Rooms

The Hotel is in a great location but the enterence for cars to drop off passengers is hard to find. They have their own undergound parking lot. Check in was easy, however the male receptionist's have nasty Israeli attidudes. They only provide keys for the rooms (not cards) which are very hard to use. the rooms are really old and shabby, the phone didnt work, the bathroom was smelly and dirty. They provide soap and shampoo dispensers in the shower. The beds are cheap dorm beds and are really low. the lobby is very nice and the breakfast is fair. the hotel provides wifi for $25.00 per day.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL

The Jerusalem Gate Hotel was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in more than 30 years of traveling. The room was small and shabby. Every 8-9 hours the ceiling would mysteriously start to leak. (Thank goodness the leak was not over the bed.) The quality of the breakfast food was poor. The hotel staff was not friendly and very unhelpful. For example, I asked them to provide me with the local phone number of an airline office. They told me to call information from a pay phone on the street. I asked that they confirm my taxi pickup for my return to the airport. (They arranged for the taxi the day before.) The desk person refused to call and confirm the taxi. (And of course, the taxi had the wrong time and was late.) Upon check out, I asked for a receipt indicating that my bill had been properly settled. They refused to give me a receipt. But worst of all, the hotel caters to bus loads of young teenage travelers. For 4-5 hours each night, dozens of young teenagers ran wild through the hallways screaming and carrying on. BE WARNED. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

The free breakfasts were ...

The free breakfasts were OK, but had the same food day in and day out. The beds were very uncomfortable, there were no dressers for your clothes and I had a watch stolen from my suitecase. There is a sign at the front desk saying that the hotel is not responsible for your valuables left in your room.
