IRELANDS WORST HOTEL SUMMERHILL

If you are struggling to find Ireland’s worst hotel – struggle no more. The Summerhill House Hotel in my opinion meets all categories. At night, whilst you try to sleep and then decide to wander around you will notice the fire doors (designed to close at night) have weights in front of them ensuring they stay wide open. On a hot summers evening do not try opening your window – it’s impossible they are screwed down – and painted over. They have not been opened for many years. You’re probably getting hungry so why not go down for a meal – do note that at 7:30 pm you are advised that the restaurant shuts at 8:30pm – and the staff put you off ordering any food now as they are already preparing to go home. So you go down into town have a quick bite come back to have a drink (avoiding drinking and driving). Only to find out the bar shut at 9:40. Regardless of how long you sit in the bar or lounge NOBODY will offer you a drink – not even water or coffee. The staff are nonetheless very friendly but poorly trained. In the morning, you might want a bath – however, after trying to run the taps to fill the bath the pressure is so low that after forty minutes there was no more than an inch of water. The shower (which appears from the 1980s – offer little more water. Do not expect hot water – it just does not exist. The staff from the local area are very friendly – it’s just the management and owners that lets everyone down. It is said that this hotel was sympathetically restored – the only thing it was sympathetic to was the bank as little if any money has been spent on this hotel for many years. It is a disgrace to a home I call Ireland
