Ok Value, but not a 4 star.

I stayed here for an overnight on New Years Eve. The real positives about this hotel are its location, right on the river with a fantastic view, and its superb glass walls allowing views across the town in the lobby area. However, the above plus points did not do enough for me. Many aspects of the hotel did not meet its 4 star rating. The staff at the bar when we went for some lunch were quite rude. They were reluctant to help us with our order. Also, the food served was not great. KFC chicken wings would have been better than the hotel's interpretation and some of our friends who ordered the chowder complained of a sick stomack later in the day. The hallways to the rooms were somewhat grubby, unlike the lobby area. The rooms themselves were clean, well furnished and had all mod-cons. Some rooms come with a balcony, it may be worthwhile requesting one at check in. The breakfast was also ok, standard buffet and the staff in the restuarant in the morning performed better than the bar staff. All in all, this is a 3 star hotel. If you are going to Sligo to drive around, go out in the evening and want something central - this is a good hotel. However if you are looking for luxury, attention to detail and 4-5 star service - you may wish to look elsewhere.

Coach Lane Restaurant. Great food, lovely atmosphere. Not overly cheap but you will leave thoroughly satisfied.

Attitude without the location

[...] Our room was modern and clean but the noise level was out of control all night long. People out in streets yelling all night and we had some woman attempting to open our door for 30 minutes around 4AM. If you are looking for a good night's sleep this is not your hotel.
