Located on the outskirts of Sligo Town and overlooked by the majestic Benbulben Mountain is the Clarion Hotel Sligo. This is the largest hotel of its kind in the North West of Ireland.
Dating back to 1848 and designed by William Dean Butler, the Clarion is a landmark building boasting a striking granite exterior, which has been sensitively restored and remodelled as a beautiful contemporary 4 star hotel.
The hotel comprises 167 rooms and guests can choose a standard double or a one or two bedroom suite which features a living room and kitchenette, ideal accommodation for families. There are 90 of these very impressive and spacious suites available in the hotel.
Guests can enjoy free access to the SanoVitae Health & Leisure Club which features a 20m swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steamroom, gymnasium and aerobics studio. Essence Spa offers a wide selection of face and body treatments.
For the kids, there is Quacker's Children's Club with a games room, play room, cinema and a daily schedule of activities during holiday periods. The crazy golf course is also a favourite with many of our families.
For those who would like to explore the locality, County Sligo is a place steeped in heritage and tradition. There is something here to suit everyone - with its amazing Carrowmore megalithic cemetery, pre-dating the pyramids of Egypt, internationally renown surfing beaches, the monastic island of Innismurray, championship links golf, deep sea fishing, music, craic, festivals and so much more. This truly is a wonderful holiday destination.

The room was very comfortable, with lots of closet and drawer space. After nearly three weeks on the road, we appreciated the iron and ironing board. We also appreciated the in-room heating system, which made the cold mornings and evenings
better. The people at the reception desk were very helpful with information and arrangements. We liked the recycling emphasis.
I study at IT Sligo, doing an on-line degree course. Twice a year I have to come up to Sligo to write exams. Staying at the Clarion is not just convenient, the hotel provides a relaxed and friendly environment with good amenities thrown in.
This hotel is beautiful. The staff are very friendly. The only problem I could say that I had, was the restaurant service wasn't very good. They were pretty slow and the food was over priced considering what you get.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
There is a famine graveyard just up the street from the hotel.
The hotel is housed in an 1848 building originally built to house the Insane Asylum. There are two chapels fromthe same period on the grounds which are very nicely landscaped. The food/wine service was a bit limited, but we were there before the
tourist season had started so perhaps these are improved during full season. The service and front desk staff werethe very best we have had in all our stay in Ireland!
