Located on the outskirts of Sligo Town and overlooked by the majestic Benbulben Mountain is the Clarion Hotel Sligo. This is the largest hotel of its kind in the North West of Ireland. Dating back to 1848 and designed by William Dean Butler, the Clarion is a landmark building boasting a striking granite exterior, which has been sensitively restored and remodelled as a beautiful contemporary 4 star hotel. The hotel comprises 167 rooms and guests can choose a standard double or a one or two bedroom suite which features a living room and kitchenette, ideal accommodation for families. There are 90 of these very impressive and spacious suites available in the hotel. Guests can enjoy free access to the SanoVitae Health & Leisure Club which features a 20m swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steamroom, gymnasium and aerobics studio. Essence Spa offers a wide selection of face and body treatments. For the kids, there is Quacker's Children's Club with a games room, play room, cinema and a daily schedule of activities during holiday periods. The crazy golf course is also a favourite with many of our families. For those who would like to explore the locality, County Sligo is a place steeped in heritage and tradition. There is something here to suit everyone - with its amazing Carrowmore megalithic cemetery, pre-dating the pyramids of Egypt, internationally renown surfing beaches, the monastic island of Innismurray, championship links golf, deep sea fishing, music, craic, festivals and so much more. This truly is a wonderful holiday destination.

Very Clean. Slight smell of fresh

Very Clean. Slight smell of fresh paint in my room although it was obvious that it had recently been decorated so can't complain too much. Very nice hotel, all in all. Would stay again.

Clarion Hotel Sligo

This hotel is beautiful. The staff are very friendly. The only problem I could say that I had, was the restaurant service wasn't very good. They were pretty slow and the food was over priced considering what you get.

Fabulous building, great service

The hotel is housed in an 1848 building originally built to house the Insane Asylum. There are two chapels fromthe same period on the grounds which are very nicely landscaped. The food/wine service was a bit limited, but we were there before the tourist season had started so perhaps these are improved during full season. The service and front desk staff werethe very best we have had in all our stay in Ireland!

We arrived in the hotel and spent

We arrived in the hotel and spent 30 minutes in a freezing cold reception waiting to book in. When we got to the room is was also freezing with a 1 small heater under the window. We could not stay in the room it was just so cold. The following morning we noticed the Shower Head was broken, the door handle fell off the bathroom door and when we turned on the sink taps "black" sand came out for about 2 minutes. The remote control for the TV didnt work. Breakfast was poor. The staff were pleasent but just not enough to cope. There was breakfast trays in the corridor from the previous night. Very disappointed and will not stay in this hotel ever again and would also consider not staying in a Clarion again. Sligo however is a great town but find a different hotel.

Very busy on the weekend we went

Very busy on the weekend we went due to weddings. Not easy to find, too far from main roads. Carpark not big enough for the size of the hotel, consequently couldnt park for several hours on site. Excellent breakfast and staff were nice

My review of Clarion Hotel Sligo

The room was very comfortable, with lots of closet and drawer space. After nearly three weeks on the road, we appreciated the iron and ironing board. We also appreciated the in-room heating system, which made the cold mornings and evenings better. The people at the reception desk were very helpful with information and arrangements. We liked the recycling emphasis.
