- Named after the very intersection (Punch's cross) it is located on at the top of O'Connell Avenue on the way out of the city centre - the city's major Shopping centre (largest and best shopping mall in the city), The Crescent Shopping Centre, is a 7 minute walk in from the hotel. Easily accessible with free parking. for anyone using Sat Nav to find the hotel type in 'Ballinacurra Road' to get to the location of the hotel and it should be easy to find us from there!

- Patrick Punch would turn in his grave if you left this hotel without sampling the fair - a pint of porter along with our locals is a must where the history of Limerick Rugby and sport is usually top of the conversation. Orby lounge and bar serves bar and traditional pub grub all day until 9pm - with fantastic value to be had for all.

We had a long walk from the bus
We had a long walk from the bus station (3.2 km)(we thougth it was closer to the city)Bur when we got to the hotel we were very pleased. Easy to take the bus to city center(bus every 20 min) The room was big-and the hotel restaurant was nice. There was also a shop nearby, where we could buy wine and snacks.

The hotel was clean and the beds
The hotel was clean and the beds were comfortable. Complimentary internet was fast, unlike most free offerings. No WiFi though, you needed to be able to connect a network cable. Off street car parking in the hotel basement was also great since it was pouring with rain when we arrived. A little bit farther out of town but a supermarket just around the corner.

Pool closed!
We visited Limerick to see the sights and meet up with friends. We booked this hotel as it advertised a swimming pool! After booking and paying online we only then found out that the pool was closed. This should have been made clearer. We got to hotel and it was very dissapointing to find the pool closed. Room was ok, nothing special. Funny smell of cigarettes in room and hallways! Food was over priced. Would not recommend breakfast! It took 30 mins to walk into the centre. Overall I would not recommend this hotel - there are much better ones in the centre. Which are better for the price with good food. This hotel should not advertise a pool if it is closed! Also I found many of the online reviews misleading!!!

Punchs hotel - concrete box
Hotel completely lacks warmth or atmosphere - old "preserved" area of Punchs pub modernised - awful! Essentially a cold concrete box, with unhelpful staff, where guests are processed rather than welcomed! Stay away. Also, dangerous to leave car in car park - other guests had cars vandalised during our stay.

The staff were friendly, efficient
The staff were friendly, efficient and polite. Check-in was efficient and speedy. In general the hotel was very clean and bright. We enjoyed our stay and will use this hotel again. One word of caution, while we found the hotel to be brilliant it is located in an area not suitable for walking at night.

Extremely friendly and staff
This hotel was great. The staff was the best part. They were extremely friendly and helpful. [...] and [...] were the best! The rooms were clean and cozy. The gym, pool, sauna, and steam room were great. The only bad things to say is that the elevator always smelled like onions and body odor and our car was one of 3 cars broken into in the parking lot of the hotel. They had video cameras but they were poor quality and could not see the people or the license plate. With going through this, the staff was unbelieveably helpful calling the police and car service for us. They did everything they could to help us.

Short drive from hotel
Penny's is the best store to buy cheap clothes and accessories. It's like a TJ MAX in MA. We spent a good amount of time in Penny's:) It's in a few of the cities over in Ireland.
