mom and baby getaway

i had a lovely stay in the clarion ,we swam in the pool every morning ,the staff were very friendly and there was a play room for children .it was great for family and friends to come and visit us as there were dining facilities and bar !central to town so no need for a car .beautiful views from my room of the river shannon . a couple of disapointments ,the first night there the alarm went off seven times at 20 minute intervals and having taken the red eye from the states and having a baby in the room i was not too happy with the wake-ups .also i had flowers sent to me at the hotel and staff left them on table in my room without water and by the time i got back to my room they were wilted .

Great restaurant, hard pillows, excellent staff

The only "issue" with this hotel is the poor quality of the pillows on the bed. They are rock hard and not very comfortable. The Asian style food in the hotel's bar is excellent as is the main restaurant during weekends. The staff are extremely helpful and courteous. I will return to this hotel.

Good stay with a couple of issues

The Clarion Hotel in Limerick was a good choice for this visit because my adult sons were along and they like to go out to the pubs and clubs that are all within walking distance of this hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean however, if you want a full or king bed it is really two twin beds pushed together so there is a ridge down the center. Most of the staff was top notch! The bar and resturant staff (with the exception of one server) were not good. They all had snotty attitudes and acted like they were doing us a favor by waiting on us. The food service is very slow but if you don't want to go out some of the choices are very tasty. The breakfast buffet was really great and the staff at breakfast were FABULOUS! The other wait staff should take a lesson from them. There is a public parking structure right acroos the drive and they give a very good rate for anyone staying at the hotel. There is also a really great french resturant right across the street that is really worth a try (The French Table) great food & really great service. There are lots of pubs and clubs within walking distance and some have afterhours (until 5am) drinking. We would recommend this hotel to friends

The French Table is a great resturant across the street and a block down from the Hotel. Dolans Pub is also a couple blocks away good pub experiance with food and drink at reasonable prices. Dolans also has live music on the weekend and some week nights. The Corn Store, taxi ride or walk about a mile, has great food and drink and a good place for large groups

Slightly better than average

checkin process was somewhat slow. Internet/wifi service was horrible. Breakfast buffet could have used a little more variety for the price. Local phone call for under 1minute cost a ridiculous amount. However, all in all it was a decent hotel and trip.

Clarion Limerick review

The hotel was clean and had a great view of the River Shannon, however, there was a huge dump pile at the nearby dock yard which was not the most pleasant view. Also, for a 4 star hotel was expecting a flat screen TV rather than an old tube TV, and there was no alarm clock. Good location to town, only a 5-10 min walk to most of shops and main bus routes. Ladies at front desk during day shift were very helpful and friendly. Note: Breakfast is not included in the price, which it hints at on the website.

Terrific Hotel

This was a great hotel: clean, friendly, excellent location on the Shannon River, and good food. Free breakfast was listed, but we did not get a free breakfast. I wish that had not been advertised to us. That was the only problem.

We Had The Time of our Lives!

We went to Ireland to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and we had the time of our lives! The Clarion Hotel in Limerick was very centrally located for everything we did! When we arrived, we were greeted very warmly and directed to our room. There was a lovely personalized greeting on the tv screen of our room and the room, itself was very clean and inviting. Not to mention that the view was breathtaking. The restaurant was also very inviting and the food was to die for. One of the very special treats of our trip was our waiter in the Kudos Restaurant, William. He had a remarkable sense of humor and was just a joy to be around. He gave us lots of ideas as to how to spend our time and the sights that we needed to see and we pretty much checked in with him every night. Limerick is a lovely city with many fine restaurants and places to see. The hotel was also very near the rail and bus stations and that made travel very easy!

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Get a timetable of the rail and bus schedules and plan the night before what you want to visit. Be careful not to always purchase a round trip ticket. Sometimes buying a one way each way was cheaper.

Serenity on the Shannon River

My wife and I were In Limerick to visit our granddaughter who was attending Limerick University for a semester. Although hard to find, once we found it is was a very pleasant hotel with extremely helpful staff. It was right on the Shannon river which was very nice, but unfortunately, was adjacent to a scrap metal yard thus we asked to move so we would have a view of the river and not the yard. Parking was very close and secure. Rates were reasonable if you asked for the weekly rate and told them you were staying at the hotel. We had to leave very early for the Shannon airport but even though the parking garage was closed, the hotel staff had access to the garage and opened it up so we could get our rental car out. Lastly, the hotel was in fair proximity to the shopping area, that is, about a half mile walk. Parking in the Limerick shopping area is somewhat limited. They do have nice parking garages, but depending on where you are going it could still require some walking.

Dining tip: In Hotel

We did use the hotel dining for breakfast which was typical European buffet, but did not use their dining other meals since we were sightseeing. The shopping district had many dining areas which used on our last day. Very nice and somewhat busy.

Disappointed

As per our reservations, breakfast was included. At check-in the receptionist pointed to the room for breakfast. The next morning, we joined several people for breakfast. A lady came around and asked people for their room number and checked them off of a list. When we gave her our room number, she said that our room was not on the list for breakfast. The next morning we chose not to have breakfast at the hotel. When we checked out the next day, we were charged an extra 20 Euros for a breakfast that was suppose to be included in our reservations. Needless to say, we felt the hotel was dishonest with us.
