Good but not great

Out of all 7 hotels that we had booked for our vacation, this hotel had no record of our booking and made us feel as if we had done something wrong when we came to check in. The failed to tell us that the parking fees were included in the cost and then when we asked about the parking fee they made us feel as if we again had done something wrong. The food at breakfast was acceptable but not great and the bar in the hotel was closed by 9pm (which is not uncommon for Ireland, but it would have been nice if they were open later.) If would only recommend this hotel to a friend if I knew that they error at check-in would not happen to them as well.

One night in Killarney

The staff was accommodating and the location was central to everything. Parking was free and easy. Only minor issue was waiting 10 minutes between flushes for the toilet.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Killarney Grand aka Sheehan's Bar is where everyone goes but the party doesn't start until 11pm. And we were told that Sunday and Monday nights are busy nights.

Scotts Hotel

The hotel was located in the heart of Killarney which made it easy to walk to if you took a bus. The main Killarney bus stop is nearby. The hotel is also centrally located to all of the restaurants, tour stations, and shopping. That said, the Scotts Hotel has entertainment nearly every evening and the noise can be somewhat loud between the hours of 9pm and 11pm. If you do not like a noisy location, I would not recommend staying here. I liked the earth-friendly electricity use the proximity of the Scotts Restaurant and Bar (in the hotel). The service was good and the wait staff were kind and helpful. It was also a plus that the Scotts Hotel staff would arrange for pick up from the hotel for any local tours such as the Ring of Kerry. The room and the bed were very comfortable. Overall it was a good experience to stay there.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

There are arranged tours through the hotel if you inquire at the front desk. This makes it so you do not need to walk to another location in the city to find a tour guide or bus.

Great location for a break in Kerry

I checked into this hotel as part of a road trip of the south-west of Ireland, The staff were helpful and the room was excellent. We were on the top floor and had a nice view of the distant mountains and the town centre. The hotel is very central. There are some very nice restaurants, pubs, shops, a cinema and an outlet store nearby. It's a short walk from the train station. The hotel can provide day trips, e.g. A trip a road the Gap of Dunloe, a climb of Carrauntoohil with a lunch and many others. There is free and fast wiki throughout the hotel. The breakfast was excellent.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The Porterhouse bar is a short distance from this hotel. It has a great atmosphere and really good food. From the entrance turn left then left again at the road. It is only a 2 minute walk on the left hand side of the road.
