Dining

Restaurant
The Sussex Restaurant has long been established as the first in fine-dining for both guests and local residents. Amidst an Art Nouveau Cafe Paris-type ambience, the restaurant echoes an era of times past - where smiling, friendly waiters tend to your every request - the bright, glass recesses in the walls allowing for ample natural light during the day and setting a chattering, romantic scene by night. A special Breakfast is served in the Sussex Restaurant - a vast, delicious buffet including cereals, mueslis, yoghurts, fresh fruits, meats, delicate pastries, warm breads and a variation of cooked breakfasts including a "Full Irish" with fresh coffee and a wide selection of teas. Lunch and Dinner is also served in the Sussex Restaurant from varied menus using the best of fresh, local produce - complemented by a meticulously selected wine list.
Bar
The low-lit expanse of this chic, contemporary bar make it a great place to enjoy a pre-dinner chilled aperitif, a zingy cocktail or a cool drink - or simply to join in on the busy chatter of guests and locals alike. A hub of friends and colleagues, Bellini's has become hugely popular since re-opening its doors as a modern progression on the legendary Buck Mulligan's Bar - despite its new interior, the conversation remains the same.

My Experience

We stayed at the Burlington. The staff and service was very good. The room was very dated though. It was a let down in light of the fact that the service was good. The leg of table in our bedroom was broken and the tiles in the bathroom were very grubby and dated. The interior needs to be updated.

Dublin Experience

The Burlington hotel offered a lot for a very reasonable price. Excellent staff through out the hotel. A long 20 minute walk to City Center but the Dublin city bus stop is right out front and offers service all over town. Dining was very good at the hotel with a large buffet breakfast and an excellent menu in the bar for dinner. I would definitely stay here again and would suggest it to a friend.

Alternative

I was unable to stay in the first hotel of choice as it was fully booked, and it was a 2 night stay for business. I ate in the bar both nights and very satisfied with the food and service. Overall I'm glad the other hotel was fully booked and will definately stay here again on my next visit to Dublin.

Week in Dublin

Hotel staff were great and once we figured out where we were I was glad we were outside of the city center. Breakfast is not great -- go to Rigby's or The Canal Bridge Cafe -- both a short walk away. Also both good for dinner too. The hotel lobby furniture was really worn and dirty. I wouldn't sit on it. It needs a serious upgrade.

The Belvedere

Starting calling this hotel The Belvedere Hotel after staying there for two nights. It's a hotel stuck in time... a bad place in time like the seventies. The elevators were delayed and poorly placed. The carpentry is wonderful but very poorly kept, lots of cracked paint and stains. The room had a lovely view of the parking lot. Our bathroom was cramped and badly outdated. Well, the entire hotel was outdated. And we paid a lot of money (150 euro) to stay there because there was a hurling match on Sunday. The breakfast was good but not included so we paid an extra 15 euro pp for that luxury. Staff was friendly but inexperienced... we had to go back to the desk twice to get a new room card just to find out on the third trip that the card wasn't the issue but the door swiper itself was broken. Just a bad experience overall and not in a coincidental, caught them on a bad day type of experience. The location was okay, it's about a twenty minute walk to Temple Bar.
