Great hotel for the shoulder season

We stayed here for five nights during late October and it was a great hotel! It had one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept on. We went to a fancy hotel in Switzerland next in our journey and that bed paled in comparison. We were here during the shoulder season of tourism, so I don't know what it would be like in the high season, but we found it to be very quiet and peaceful. It's a non-smoking hotel, which is one of the reasons I picked it. Great value, and we will definitely go back.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

We didn't have a car and took the train and a bus to Powercourt Gardens and spent the whole day there walking around, eating in their cafe, walking down by the river. It is rated the #3 most beautiful garden in the world and definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

I chose the Royal Marine as I was catching the ferry to Holyhead the following day. Nice hotel, with a nostalgic feel. Great location. Overall nice place.

Good hotel with significat limitations

Fine hotel but significant problems 1. kept waiting for 1 hr before accessing the room 2. Wardrobe virtually non existent. 3. No shaving socket 4. Inadequate light controls 5. Fire alarm at midnight, which took a relatively long time to sort out. Fire engines arrived 45 minutes later 6. Unable to sleep after that. Then a boat crossing and also having to drive approx 180 miles 7. Is the development in front a sign of the end of the hotel

Short break

Hotel is very nice, clean and staff very polite and helpful. Our room was very spacious and bed was comfortable, shower could have been a little stronger but ok. Unfortunately they are building outside which is not hotels fault but can be noisy, and is spoiling the sea veiw, but overall a lovely stay in a lovely hotel. If we visit Dublin again would definitely stay at the Royal Marine, also close to Dart for easy access into Dublin City Centre.

Our Stay

Fist mistake was booking it all on Orb .We had to wait till 6 pm for our rooms after an overnight flight . The suite packge was a joke . Our room was smaller and 3 times the price of a single that my mom stayed in (she booked on the hotel website) I was shouted at by breakfast staff and ridiculed by the front desk help .We were charged for breakfasts we did'nt have . This is a destination hotel for parties and weddings and not at all child friendly . What is really sad about this hotel is that some staff are really helpful and nice and others are just rude .
