A Wonderful Weekend

What can I say? Perhaps that I would like to go back to the O'Callaghan Davenport as soon as we can! The hotel is perfectly situated, close to museums and art galleries, on a main tour bus route and within walking distance of the shopping areas. The hotel is clean, smart and comfortable. The food is fantastic. But, most of all, the hotel is made by the staff who were warm, welcoming, polite and kind. Without doubt this is the best hotel stay we have ever had (and that includes top flight places in London)!

The food is great with fantastic fresh ingredients. It is also substantial, so allow plenty of time for your meals! The Guinness really is much, much better than anywhere else.

Great visit.

When my husband and I stayed at O'Callaghan Davenport, the hotel was under construction but we were impressed that it wasn't a nuisance. The staff was friendly and very helpful especially when it comes to giving pointers to local eateries and points of interests. The location was perfect: it's near Trinity College and Temple Bar area but far enough that it was not as crowded and noisy as Temple Bar. We had great time and would recommend O'Callaghan to our friends.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Great place to stay because it's quiet but it is near many points of interest, like Trinity College Library where the Book of Kells is housed. Many cafes in the neighborhood that serve great hot breakfast and yes, Irish breakfast too.

Wonderful

Staying at the ocallaghan davenport hotel was great. It iepitomized all we'd thought of Ireland--friendly, comfortable, clean, wholesome, and solid like the sherry Netherlands of New York in the 50s. Location couldn't have been better.

Fun weekend in Dublin, but...

Staff was great, very friendly and helpful; especially in helping sign up for the PAID wifi which was problematic, expensive, and very slow :( Not their fault. That's on management! Management: Offer free, competitively-performing wifi if you want more goodwill -- your staff is working hard to cultivate it; what are you doing to help them? That's the question a leader asks.

Adequate hotel with some good staff

The hotel is centrally located and most of the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. I did encounter one rude friend desk clerk but this was made up by another front desk staff who went out of his way to help us book theater tickets.

Dublin virgins

A lovely well furnished hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms were large, huge beds, table, chairs coffee making, tv, and large sliding wardrobes . Bathroom clean and spacious, with hairdryer, mirrors and toiletries. Ordered room service on one evening and was surprised with the size of portions and time it took. The breakfast was a variety of choice, cooked, pastries, fruits, meats, cereals and juices. Only negative was that for the price I feel breakfast should have been included in the cost and not to be paid for extra.

Super Hotel

We just loved this hotel. We started our bus tour here and wish all had been so near places and had the classiness this one had. They don't have a pool but we were not looking for things like that. We were near Trinity College, and all other places we wanted to see in Dublin. Bus was a few feet away. Two pubs nearby, Kennedy and Ginger Man had GREAT food. Would love to stay there again. Helpful staff.

Excellent room, service and price

We could not have asked for a better hotel room or location than O'Callaghan, Davenport. The location, right on Merrion Square, is a perfect location for Dublin - you're just blocks away from the Hop On/Hop Off bus that takes one all over Dublin. This bus takes you to the Heuston train station that gets you all over the rest of Ireland. You're also one block away from picking up any city bus. You can also walk to Grafton street and the restaurant/bars in the Temple Bar area. The hotel was excellent. Our large room had plentiful shelf and drawer space and they had a wonderful selection of breakfast teas and coffees in the room. The room was totally cleaned every day, top to bottom, and the updated, air-conditioned, hotel would rival any newer hotel but O'Callaghan has an 'old world' charm that a newer hotel cannot match. The staff was willing to help in any way necessary. We believe we found the perfect hotel in which to spend our week vacationing in Dublin.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The Hop On/Hop Off bus is the perfect way to view the main attractions in Dublin. It's a two day pass and you'll need two days to see everything. While in Dublin, don't bother with the wax museum -- it's over-priced and the only attraction that wasn't worth the time or euros.
