First timers to Dublin
Ideal accomodation
Very much enjoyed my stay here, and felt that I got a bargain for the price that I paid. The building itself was very striking on the outside. Inside, the hotel was very nicely decorated and felt luxurious. Front desk staff were very gracious, courteous and helpful. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The room was in very good condition, and housekeeping kept the room tidy. We didn't use the gym facilities that were available. Also did not eat in the hotel - thought the price of breakfast was rather pricey. Found a couple of places to have tasty and inexpensively priced breakfasts nearby on Nassau Street - Cafe Crepe and tne cafe on the second floor of Kilkenny Store. In general, found the price of food to be quite expensive in comparison to the US and even London. Hotel is very convenient to nearby attractions - Merrion Square is right across the street, and #29 Fitzwilliam, National Gallery of Art, National Library, National Museum of Archeology, Trinity College and Grafton Street are all within a five to ten minute walk. There is an Aircoach bus dropoff point right around the corner, which made the arrival from Dublin Airport very easy. However, the pickup point back to the airport is a ten to fifteen minute walk in front of the Tourist Information center - could be a hassle if you have lots of luggage. Did not use the bus system - it didn't seem to have routes that were convenient, nor could we make sense of the bus maps. But because so much of what we wanted to see was within walking distance of the hotel, that worked out fine. The hop-on, hop-off buses stop a block away, which we used one day to get out and see the remote attractions like the Kilmainham Gaol. We also liked the hotel's location away from the Temple Bar area, so it was very quiet at night. Also took a day trip using Bus Eireann to see Powerscourt, Glendalough and Wicklow - the bus terminal was an easy fifteen minute walk across the Liffey river. We would definitely recommend this hotel as a base for sightseeing in Dublin.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Good, tasty and reasonably priced meals can be found at the cafe in Kilkenny Store on Nassau Street and the Food Hall and Rooftop Restaurant in Marks and Spencer on Grafton Street. Note that on weekends and holidays, eateries seem to open much later or not at all. We ended up eating breakfast at McDonalds on Grafton Street on the Bank Holiday, because it was the only place open early enough for us to get breakfast before we headed to the airport.

Don't expect too much
There were several problems during my stay- the heat was not working after the first night, they gave me a small space heater, but it was not the same. The wireless does not work well during the day (only after 11pm or before 7am when fewer people are on the system), toilets don't flush properly. This was my first stay in Dublin, I expected it would be similar to the UK but was extremely disappointed. Perhaps the hotel is fine compared to others in the city, I'm not sure, but it isn't what I expected for 4 stars. I wouldn't stay there again.

Great convenient location
The staff lived up to the Irish reputation of being friendly, welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The location was good and within easy walking distance of special features such as the museum, art gallery, Trinity College and downtown restaurants and shopping mall, to name a few. Decor was classy. The rooms were spotlessly clean. The only downside was the view from bedroom windows. It was uninteresting, overlooking the rear of various apartments.

A stay in Dublin
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. The overall location was quite convenient and the hotel was very quiet at night which was great. The hotel was extraordinarily clean. I am sure by European standards this hotel is truly a four star hotel, but by American standards, I would only rate it three stars at best, and in reality, it would be 2.5 stars. At those rates, even through Orbitz, I would expect a larger room, free internet, and more basic amenities. Overall, I would say a very good hotel, but a bit pricey for what you really get.
