Great location

We thought the location perfect. The staff was friendly, but not totally professional. We requested a non-smoking room, were given a smoking room on a smoking floor that reeked of stale smoke. But our room was spacious, clean and well appointed. I would definitely recommend the hotel, but make sure the room is non-smoking if that's what you want. We were so tired when we checked in, we missed that. Rooms are spacious which is very nice.

Great location

On check-in, desk clerk tried to claim that my reservation was not with the Alexander, but with the Davenport--another O'Callaghan hotel across the street, but of lesser quality. Had to argue with them, point out that my confirmation had "Alexander" printed right on it, and insist that I was not going to be moved to the Davenport. After several attempts to claim there were no more rooms, they finally relented and gave us a room. Our room was clean, the bed large/comfortable, the AC/heater controls were somewhat tempermental and didn't always shutoff when desired. Location very good--within walking distance from everything we wanted to visit--Trinity College, Nat'l Art Gallery, Grafton street and Temple Bar, Dublin Castle, St Stephen's Green, O'Connell street.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

You don't need a car while staying in Dublin's city center. Lots of good dining, shopping, museums, parks, all within walking distance. The AirCoach was a great way to get to and from airport to city center and no hassle with driving through congested, one-way streets, or trying to park--parking fees can be exhorbitant.

Exceptional location and good price

We were in Dublin only for the weekend and the location of the hotel couldn't have been better. Within easy walking distance of Trinity College, Grafton Street shopping, and the national museums. My only complaint is an American one -- no ice or soda machines. There is a convenience store a block and a half away, however.

Nice, clean and central.

We were visiting the O2 arena and the hotel was well within walking distance. The fact that the hotel is also very close to shopping, restauurants and bars makes the hotel even better. The hotel also has an indoor car park (€10/day) about 100yds from the entrance.

Clean Rooms and Good Water Pressure

When I arrived we discovered that the hotel had been overbooked. Though it took a bit longer to check-in the hotel staff were able to find a room for me [...]. The rooms were clean, there was A/C which not alot of hotels in Dublin have, and there was great water pressure in the shower which my girlfriend loved.

Spacious room, helpful staff

This hotel is one block away from an Air Coach stop so you don't need a car to get from the airport. Great location, especially if you're going to Trinity College and want lots of nearby shopping and bar hopping. It was a bit warm (and sunny!) when I was there. I opened the window at night -- the air conditioning was not working well. This hotel does not offer free internet/wireless. Very comfortable, contemporary, clean rooms.
