Very satisfactory transit stop

I used this hotel after returning my rental car to overnight before my departure from Ireland the next day. The staff were helpful in various ways, the meals were very good, internet connection was fine, and the room was well-appointed and comfortable.

Good enough for budget travelers

Shuttle service to and from the airport was excellent (for only 5 Euros round trip). It was nice to not have to deal with or pay for taxi service. Staff were courteous and professional. Room was clean enough, but could use some updating. Hotel was conveniently located just a short walk to the #4 and #13 bus stops (which take you to Dublin City Center). The Metro Hotel should served its purpose of providing a clean enough room and comfortable enough bed for budget travelers who don't mind taking a bus downtown. It's much cheaper than a taxi. The bus will cost you no more than 2.50 Euros one way.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you plan to use the Dublin bus and tram system, purchase a Leap Card when you arrive at Dublin Airport. The Leap Card is much more convenient than having to find exact change each time you take a bus. Don't put too much credit on the card, (depending on how long you're staying) because you can always recharge it at many places downtown. Also be aware of the operating hours of the Dublin Bus Office (located downtown) because you have to bring your card there to get your 5 Euro deposit back.

Ideal hotel for travelers on a budget

The primary reason my wife and I stayed at this hotel was because of its convenient location in relation to Dublin Airport, shuttle service to and from the airport (for 5 Euros round trip), and ease of using the Dublin Bus system to get to Dublin City Center. If all you're looking for is an inexpensive place to sleep and nothing more, this is the place. The hotel is good enough for travelers on a budget. The room was clean, but it could use some updating like a new carpet, mattress, pillows, and bed linens. The walls are paper thin, so hope you don't have noisy neighbors. The hotel is conveniently located a short walking distance from the 4 and 13 bus stops which take you to Dublin City Center. The staff were friendly, especially the shuttle drivers. It was convenient to have the shuttle service to and from the airport. We didn't use any other hotel amenities or the restaurant. Overall, I would recommend this hotel simply because it served its purpose and all for a low price. I couldn't imagine how expensive it would cost to stay in Dublin City Center!

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

From the Metro Hotel it's only a short walk to the bus stop for the #4 which takes you to Dublin City Center. And just a little further down the road is a bus stop for the #4 and #13 buses which both take you downtown. Walk to the second bus stop since you will have more choices and will most likely have to wait less.

Not up to par

We chose this hotel because of its close location to the airport, yet short bus ride in to city center. The location was great, it was very easy to find and simple to get to the airport to catch our flight home however, the hotel itself was very disappointing. Kristal at the front desk was wonderful at check in - explaining the wifi, giving us directions and bus information. The room itself was terrible. Immediately after exiting the elevator to head to our room we were hit with a very very strong smell of cigarette smoke throughout the entire floor. Our room was no different and reeked of cigarettes. Even my fiancée who is a former smoker agreed it was too strong and offensive an odor that we couldn't stay in that room. Kristal was wonderful and gave us another room on a different floor. This floor also smelled strongly of smoke, but the room was not that bad. Another oddity to note, the king bed we booked was actually two single beds pushed together, leaving a big uncomfortable seam in the middle of the bed where the mattresses met. Very uncomfortable, especially for a couple that like sleeping next to one another. In the morning we opened our 4th floor window to get a bit of fresh air only to have smoke wafting in from people in the rooms below or next to us smoking out their windows. The young woman at check out didn't seem to care when we told her. We would not stay here again. The entire hotel is plastered with no smoking signs however people clearly smoke inside the hotel on all floors. It may not be a big deal to some, but as a non smoker I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke and don't want all of my clothes smelling of it when I get home from my trip. Huge disappointment. We will not be back.

Great Hotel for Easy Airport Access

A clean, modern hotel with good access to the airport. The front desk staff were VERY friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and good-sized. Room rate was very reasonable. Getting into the Dublin city center took a while by public bus, and I had to keep my eyes peeled to make sure I got off at the right stop upon returning to the hotel. The hotel is not near any bars, restaurants, or sights -- it's sole advantage is it's proximity to the airport. My girlfriend and I had an early flight the next morning, so it was perfect for us. For visitors who want access to downtown, there are definitely better options closer to the city center. The shuttle to and from the airport was punctual and quick, and the driver was very friendly. However, there is a 5 Euro charge per person round trip (payable at the front desk upon arrival.) Also, you have to call the hotel from the courtesy phone in the terminal to let them know that you require the shuttle service. I was expecting the hotel to airport shuttle would be complimentary, but it was not.

One night stay

We stayed here for one night as we were collecting relatives from the airport early on the Sunday Morning. Parking was limited outside the hotel. When we booked in the girl on the desk was pleasant enough, telling us all about the meal specials. What she neglected to to tell us was that there was 2 underground car parks, which were secure. we had alot of valuable gear in the car, (golf Bags). but were never advised about the secure parking.

Excellant Stay

We only stayed one night and caught a flight home the next day. When we checked in the staff provided us with a map of Dublin and was very helpful in answering questions concerning getting downtown. We went downtown, had a great meal and bought some souvenirs even though it was pouring rain and cold. The room was clean, a good size and had everything we needed. It was a short commute to the airport. They have a shuttle that runs during the day that picked us up when we arrived for no charge. Just ask the information desk at the airport and they will tell you where to meet the shuttle. We then booked it to take us to the airport the next morning but there was a fee. You can also purchase breakfast buffer at a discount when you check in. It was a quiet stay and we were rested for our flight home the next day.

There is a bus stop nearby for a shop commute downtown. We asked the driver to let us know when he had reached our stop on the way back and he was very helpful along with the locals on the commute to downtown.

Very friendly staff, fine rooms

The hotel was pretty average across the board. Nothing to complain about, but not much that excites either. However, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. One morning I needed another 2 euros and 40 eurocents for the bus into the city and the receptionist gave it to me from her own purse. Of course, I paid her back later, but she was just giving it to me. It was a humungous help.

most uncomfortable mattresses ever

Mattresses are lumpy and you can feel the springs coming through the mattress (king). We were offered a room upgrade, but were told all the king mattresses would be the same, due to 2 box springs used to support it. We checked out the room upgrade, and ,seeing and feeling that mattress, we declined. Hotel food was pretty bad and service wasn't great (slow, as is most of Ireland, however). This hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so don't expect any other choices of restaurants nearby, within wAlking distance. Only McDonald's and a coffee shop are walkable.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

The main city of Dublin is 15 minutes or so drive away, so if you want convenience, this hotel is not it. Also, there are no other decent restaurants to walk to, so be prepared to have bad hotel food, or go food shopping and spring for a kitchenette.
