maldron hotel- Dublin

We stayed 7 days in Dublin and LOVED the Maldron hotel. It was clean and within easy walking distance to just about everything: Temple Bar, Grafton Street, the parks, and the Liffey- which made it easy to navigate. We used the fitness center everyday- most days we went sightseeing, returned to the hotel to swim or hot tub, have a cup of tea, and then go out again for dinner and the pubs. We especially appreciated the electric kettle in our room; it was so fast and spotless, and the restaurant in the lobby kept us provided with plenty of milk and tea and sugar since there were four of us and we quickly finished the tea provided by housekeeping. Also, the Maldron is very close to the Tara train station and the bus stops. It was quiet at night because it is in the business district. The beds were comfortable and the rooms spacious. We will definitely stay at a Maldron again.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

We ate at a lot of pubs and found Panama on Bachelor's Walk ( by O'Connell Street) and Farrington's in Temple bar to be the absolute best. Be sure to be in Temple Bar on Saturday for the farmer's market. And , if you see a Butler's Chocolate ( they're everywhere) get a hot chocolate!

Great staff and amenities

Enjoyed the trip, only had problems with car park, this hotel did not have one and it was very costly. Had to turn in the car early as parking was over $35 Euro a day.

Maldron on Cardiff in Dublin

Due to other plans, we didn't use the gym or pool but they seemed to be first rate. There is a lot of construction in the area right now, but it didn't take away from the Hotel. Located about 2 blocks from the Canal Square, 2 blocks from the river Liffey, 7 Euro cab ride to the central bus/tram station or is easily walkable.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Purchase a Dublin Bus pass at the airport. 20 Euro for 5 days riding included airport transportation, bus tours, etc. and there are scads of Dublin Bus routes and busses. Incidentally, the staff at the hotel said people who use Orbitz get the best deals.

This is a nice modern hotel in a great location - it is very close to the city centre and also the Grand Canal Theatre which is why we stayed there. The room was lovely modern and very clean. The service at reception was good so overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.

We stayed at the Maldron Hotel

We stayed at the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane Dublin for 4 nights in January 2010. The hotel itself is very new. There is a pool, sauna, spa, lounge area with internet access and a bar. Our room was a really good size with room for a little table with two chairs. The room was nice and clean as was the bathroom. The hotel was really good value for money. It is not right in the center of Dublin, it was about a 20 minute walk. There is a bus stop about a 5 minute walk away and we caught a taxi into the city for about 7 Euros. There isn't a lot to do near the hotel, but there are a couple of takeaway restaurants and a small supermarket. No mini fridge, but it was winter when we were there so we kept our drinks cold on the balcony.

A very nice and clean hotel. Tidy

A very nice and clean hotel. Tidy and good facilities, does deserve the 4 star rating. There is quite an amount of building work ongoing close by the hotel which appears to be in its latter stages and the area surrounding will be much more pleasant on the eye once this is completed.
