Cheap and central

We slept one night in Dublin. The Lynams Hotel is not very luxurious, but in terms of location very practical. Situated about 50 meters from the Dublin spire it needs a short walk to discover the most famous places. Overall seen good deal. However travelers with higher requirements should take for instance Academy Plaza Hotel which is close.

The staff were very pleasant and

The staff were very pleasant and although the hotel is situated on a busy street, it is moderately quiet. I asked to change rooms due to the quality of the mattress in the first one and was happily accommodated. The overall quality of the hotel has dropped noticeably since my previous visit in 2004; the breakfast (not included in my booking) was quite bland and the furniture throughout the building is noticeably worn. There may be a better deal in the same category, though one could certainly do worse. I'd stay there again.

Bedbugs!

Just stayed here 8-31-2010. All looked decent at check in for an older hotel in downtown Dublin, but this place has a bedbug infestation that the management thinks is normal. We were moved to a second room first floor after being on the fourth floor and they were there too. Management said we were the only ones to complain and were not going to do anything about it. We were covered by bedbugs after the lights were out for 15 minutes on the fourth floor and yes it was better on the first floor but they were still there just in fewer numbers. I don't know about you, but I don't like to stay in places where the management won't acknowledge that there is a problem and puts the problem back on you as a complainer. I do not advise to stay here.

it is very good and very unusual

it is very good and very unusual to get a "single" room in an hotel. the location could not be bettered - really central. the bathroom was spotless but did not provide any soap or shampoo which we have come to expect. everything else was provided including a hair-drier. but the carpet badly needed a good hoovering or else should be thrown out.

This hotel is conveniently located

This hotel is conveniently located on O'Connell Street, just north of the Dublin General Post Office. It is a very good location from which to see many of the sights in Dublin. The hotel itself is a little dated and in need of some renovation.

The hotel is in a very good central

The hotel is in a very good central location close to all major points of interest for a visitor to Dublin. The service was basic, but acceptable. On the up side the staff were all friendly and helpful (reception, restaurant...), the lift was working ;), breakfast was ok (no fruits or veggies though), sheets and bathroom were clean, the room was facing away from the street and on the top floor so it was not noisy. On the down side, no aircon. in room (small fan instead), no wifi except in the lobby, dated decor, could do with a through cleaning - especially windows, curtains and carpets! We got a bit of a shock when entering the lobby, but the price was good (can't expect more for that!). Wouldn't go alone or with kids, but in twos ok.
