I found the Louis to be a very nice hotel, the staff went out of there way to be helpfull and I feel that they did a great ... job, the room was very clean and quiet. The major drawback for me to stay there again was the lack of a shuttle service, this hotel is a four star hotel, but the lack of a shuttle puts in my mind a lot lower rating, nothing in the way of transportation too and from the airport or to the light rail station, to have to walk about a mile at 7:00am in the morning in the wind and rain and hope a bus comes by to get to the airport is very unnerving, so Louis (the owner) pay attention to this request and do something about this glaring problem,

Louis Fitzgerald Stay

This was a very neatly run hotel. The rooms were fine, staff was friendly and helpful, especially [...], one of the shuttle ... drivers. The only 2 negative things I would say are I had an ongoing problem with my key. For safety reasons they will deactivate the key so it cant be used after you check out. For some reason however, despite the fact I was staying for 6 nights, my key kept getting deactivated. It was a small hassle having to go all the way up to my room, then go all the way back down to get my key reactivated. The only other problem I could see others having with this hotel is it's location. It is no where near all the major "touristy" places in Dublin. You have to walk about 3/4's of a mile to the LUAS stop. The LUAS then took about 20ish minutes to get into the city center. It wasnt a huge inconvenience, but it wasnt exactly accommodating. After a night out, I had to take a taxi back to the hotel because all the LUAS trains had closed for the night. The taxi ride was about 20-25 euros. On one hand, it was nice to be away from all the chaos of Dublin during U2 week, but on the other hand you are relatively far away from anything worth going to. The good thing about its location is there is a little shopping mart next door, so if you wanted to grab some juice or groceries you have that option. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the bar was nice, and there a restaurant about a block away. If you dont mind not being centrally located, then you will enjoy this place.

Off the beaten path, but nice
KB33 Jul 27, 2009
We found the hotel delightfully clean and well staffed. The price was right, and for a busy Dublin weekend, we really ... couldn't complain about our luck finding a room at the last minute for 3 people. At hostel prices (per person) we were surprised at the quality of the hotel in general. The hotel is a bit off the beaten path, you have about a 10 minutes or less walk to the train into the area of Dublin where museums, attractions and shopping are, but the ride goes quickly (about a 25 minute ride) and isn't expensive. There is also a night bus that takes you from Temple Bar down to this area after the trains close, so you aren't stranded if the Guinness keeps you out later than the last train back. All in all, the service, cleanliness and amenities make this place a real find, especially when the city seems booked elsewhere.

BMAN Jul 23, 2009
The hotel was nice. The location and the keys didn't always work. There was a few times the keys didn't work and we had to ... get new ones. There is no easy way to get to your hotel from the airport. From downtown Dublin you have to take a 10 minute walk followed by a 20-25 minute LUAS ride. The hotel itself was really nice. The restaurant in the hotel was great and there was a restaurant adjacent to the hotel, Joel's, that was really nice. The room was nice and super clean. The staff was excellent.

Not that far out of the way
AZ Bubba Jul 20, 2009
We were on our honeymoon, and visited downtown Dublin, as well as a couple of day trips. The worst part about staying here is ... that it is not in the middle of everything...but the Luas (light rail) is about a 20 minute walk, if you're slow. We found this to be a small price to pay for the bargain you get. We spent 59 Euro/night, which was dirt cheap compared to anywhere else you could stay. If you just absolutely have to be in the middle of everything, this isn't it. But if you don't mind walking a bit...it's a great value. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend!

The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. It was cheaper to take the tram into town and eat at other ... locations. Round trip tickets on the tram and the meals were a better value than the hotel's menu. If you are only visiting Dublin a rental car is not needed. A little walk, the tram and the buses are perfect.

Nice Hotel for a one night getaway
Snob Mar 23, 2009
We took this hotel on Valentines night. The hotel iteself has a modern feel and is very comfortable. All the facilities are ... top notch. The only downside was the entertainment in the bar / lounge on the night. As it was valentines there was a package deal that included accomodation, dinner, champagne and after dinner entertainment. We sat in for the entertainment after eating off the property. The package meant that the average age of people in the hotel that night was 18-20 and at times it was a bit like an afters at a not very classy wedding. There was a singer who used backing tracks that resembled a poor Karaoke instrumental and her PA constantly turned itself off. But as this is only one night in the year i assume that the atmophere is much different on other nights. The rooms were very modern, beds were comfortable, all facilities made available and spacious. All in all i would recommend this for one or maximum two nights. With no real attractions near the hotel you could get bored of staying on the hotel grounds longer than this.

The Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, DUBLIN, Ireland was a comfortable, modern (style) hotel. The staff was extremly friendly and ... helpful. The rooms are small but more than adequate. A bit off the beaten track though, that with the road construciton did make getting there less than fun.
