Lovely hotel...but no escape from lively Dublin!

Its a busy hotel; the bar, restaurant, lobby etc. Dublin centre is lively (10 mins in a cab, quicker and just as cheap as the bus) and so is this hotel, especially with the wedding season in full tilt! However, calm, peace and comfort are to be found on the other side of your bedroom door....and a lovely bedroom it is aswell!

Pre book a hire car to collect at the airport to travel to/from the hotel. Bus = 2 links/2hrs, Taxi is around 30euro; but the car....£24 for the whole weekend!!!!

Great Castle Stay in Dublin!

The hotel was a bit hard to find but once we did find Clontarf Castle it was great! the driveway to the castle was very neat as it revealed the castle and the remodel in 2006 was stunning mixing new architectural elements with the old castle feel. The rooms are not specifically in the castle (built right up next to it but behind) however they are so close that you still feel like you are staying in the castle with all of the amenities that you would expect from a 4-star hotel. I would gladly stay here again.

exploring dublin

Overall very good. Reception staff polite but functional. Restaurant staff excellent. It's the little things that matter hence my only real criticism was lack of a toothbrush and paste on arrival. International clientele arriving from all over would appreciate handy pack as you get on long haul flights. Would I stay again.? Most definitely YES!! Robert Crooks.

Nice hotel

I don't really have much input on this hotel since I checked in at 11 PM and checked out at 6 AM the following morning. I could say that the staff at the front just was very helpful. The rooms were very clean and the bed was very, very comfortable. I feel that a major drawback to the hotel is the location. We spent the day in Center City Dublin with the rental car and had a lot of difficulty finding the hotel, a lot of difficulty is probably an understatement.

Great Experience!

We felt more like family than guests! Our initial room bathroom light was inoperable and we were upgraded to the Royal Suite by the front desk for the inconvenience. My wife and I were perfectly fine but the staff insisted we change rooms to enjoy our wedding anniversary. The food was very good for the price paid. Nice place to stay to relax and travel from Clontarf Dart Station to other parts of Ireland.

Beautiful

The castle is beautiful. The rooms are a nice size. There ia a chair and sitting area. The bathroom is a good size. Service was great. Very helpful and willing. It is a little out of Dublin but by no means far. It was worth the bus ride everyday that's for sure.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Buy a leap card for the bus it is well worth it. The bus requires exact change. It's a short walk to the bus stop. You may have to wait a few minutes. If you take the bus back at night get off at the last stop at the hotel. Better walking a bit to go into town to catch the bus.

Beautiful!

It is a wonderful higher -end hotel. I did see families too. Only visited the pub and it was nice with friendly staff. The front desk was equally just as nice. Kind of far from the center of town, but it is a relatively cheap taxi ride to downtown. Bus 130 will also take you there too. Our room was very pretty and all things functioned as they should. Definitely would recommend.
