Business

Would recommend Mon, Jan 25, 2016
I must admit I would not have chosen this hotel having had a previous bad experience when it was Bewley's many years ago. But I stayed there on a Friday night and I must admit I was very surprised at the change. Certainly moving into the Clayton family has brought about a marked improvement. The room for two was fine, the beds were comfortable and it had tea and coffee making facilities as well as a safe. They could do with putting enough toiletries for two in the bathrooms though. The staff were excellent, friendly and good at their jobs despite being under pressure particularly at the front desk because of the number of people checking in at the same time returning from Holiday World taking place nearby. They could do with more people in this area. Breakfast was good, not great but decent enough, However at €15 it is costly on top of the room rate and another €12 doe parking. I would expect fresh orange juice and not the watered down version available but the brown bread was excellent, there was porridge for those wanting a healthier option and the guys serving up breakfast were superb. The room in which we stayed was in a part of the hotel that was very quiet and this was a plus factor. All in all staying there was a pleasant experience and I would certainly return.

It's a beautiful old building, very quiet, good breakfast buffet, great neighborhood for restaurants, three stops from the center of town via light rail.

overnight stay

Would not recommend Thu, Jul 30, 2015
Check in seamless. Expensive for what we got. Room was meant to be Delux but was very basic. No bottled water in room. No shower caps, no face cloths. Only one set of towels in Bathroom had to search for other towels which were in a drawer as spare towels. Felt like the room had not been turned around correctly for next guests. Breakfast was a disaster. Note if you do not put a credit card on your room you cannot charge breakfast to your room you have to pay upfront. This was not explain upon check-in. so having queued for 20 minutes to get a table I was then told breakfast couldn't be charged to my room so I had to run back to my room get my cards and come back again. No management at breakfast very unorganised and staff rude and moody. Only consulation was when checking out I wasn't charged for breakfast. I gave my feedback to the desk clerk who apparently wasn't surprised as I wasn't the only guest who felt the service was very poor.

Only stayed the one night but can't fault the hotel at all. The staff at reception were friendly and most helpful. The rooms were lovely and warm and very comfortable. There was a wide selection of food at breakfast, everything hot and tasty.

pleasantly suprised

Would recommend Wed, Jan 7, 2015
I was impressed with the grandness of the building and the professionalism of most of the staff. Be sure to understand what you are ordering at the bar and restaurant. American versions differ! Reception staff was extremely helpful and there are bus stops that go directly to town and airport. nice little neighborhood pubs. while we were there, there were quite a few children because of the holiday season...a little too loud at times but not their usual environment. The bartender/stafff Anis was an absolute delight and great rep for the Bewleys corp.
