Affordable and convenient

We enjoyed our stay very much. Beautiful, historic building. Excellent room, very clean. Bustop right outside into Dublin and taxis waiting if needed. The staff is friendly. I would stay here again!

Wonderful

It was wonderful and perfect for us! No it's not in the middle of downtown, but within a 5 minute walk you can be at the DART station. Within 10 minutes you'll be in downtown Dublin. And if you're into walking, it's about a 45 minute walk to downtown. You'll get to see some wonderful buildings along the way.

Spot on

Stayed here four days on a private trip. All I needed was a 'bed for the night' and had no particular expectations. The hotel was rather good, so much so at I intend returning on a family visit.

Excellent experience

We stayed at Bewleys Ballsbridge for 15 nights whilst visiting family in Dublin and nearby towns. The hotel itself is in a fine, elegant old building. The structure and grounds are classically beautiful while the inside has been thoroughly modernized with modern acouterments. The rooms are sizable with plenty of space for clothing and travel gear. Free wireless at the hotel made internet access a non-issue. The location at Ballsbridge on Merrion Road is 15 minutes or less from absolutely anywhere in the greater Dublin area. Easy access to taxi and bus services as well as available underground parking at the hotel itself made this a perfect site considering the dearth of parking on street in such a compact and lively city. The Brasserie restaurant was marvelous. The food was plentiful and delicious, well prepared and the serving staff are polite, efficient and non-intrusive. The Bar oozes 'old world' charm and the coffee bar is always quick and easy for those on the run, needing a cuppa and a sandwich for a quick bite. The only things I would suggest are lacking are no mini-fridge in the rooms and no in-hotel gift shop. These in no way however detracted from our enjoyment of our stay at this fantastic gem in Dublin's fair city!! We will DEFINITELY be staying here again!!

Dining tip: In Hotel

If you are a late night snacker, have a supply available in your room as room service is not available 24 hours. Also, if you plan on walking about bring a comfortable pair of suitable walking shoes. Your feet will thank you! Also, Dublin is militantly green. If you plan on shopping, bring a bag of your own or be prepared to purchase a bag at the shop. No 'throw away' culture here!

Bewely Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin

Really easy to get to from the airport about 8 euros. Great location for tours north and south. Food excellent. Bring wash clothes + alarm clock. They have most EU electrical plugs + 110/220 AC and great web connection free. Only use Orbitz to make your res. No kidding. You will see why when you get there. Trust me. Wm. A.

Super quiet & close to city center

The hotel was nearly perfect: close to city center, right on the bus line, easy access to airport, beautiful Embassy neighborhood, clean and above all, the quietest hotel I have ever stayed at. I do not recommend going to Dublin for Christmas, however, as nearly everything "touristy" closes from Christmas Eve to New Years. The hotel did offer a meal for Christmas Day, but it was 100 Euro a person (roughly $150 each) so we opted out of that! But nothing else was open nearby so we ended up eating snack foods in our room. Nearly all the attractions we wanted to see were closed during our stay, too. This was certainly not the hotel's fault, though, and I would definitely recommend ths hotel to travelers!

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

I would NOT use Paddywagon Tours for a visit to any attraction. They misrepresented themselves, took us to Blarney Castle for the day on a bus without heat, only to discover that the castle (like everything else in Ireland on Christmas and the day after) was closed. We were completely duped, and our efforts at reconciliation were ignored. Plus, most sad, was the loss of one complete day in Ireland.
