Couples city break.

We booked late only a few days before our arrival and due to the very cold weather we found our room to be quite cold. We explained this to the staff who were very friendly and helpful, and they upgraded us free of charge to a superior king room. The room was beautiful, very stylish and comfortable with great views. Although just out of temple bar/grafton street area, which is what we wanted, it is only a short walk away and the hotel is directly by the luas (tram) line which makes it easy to get around. The bus stops right outside the hotel And the hotel is across the road from the train station and the guiness storehouse! Breakfast in the Hotel is lovely! Would definitely stay here again!

Awesome and comfortable getaway

The room was amazing and so was the location. It's about a 25min walk to the center city which is not bad at all and it's right next to the Liffey. The attention was also great. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again.

Lovely hotel rooms

I only spent 8 hours in this hotel, before flying home, but the hotel room was amazing! great furniture, queen size bed, lovely updated bathroom. This hotel is also super convenient to the Heuston train station for catching the airport bus, or the train to anywhere. Would definitely stay here again!

positive surprise

Easy accessible location near Park and Zoo, opposite to the Guinness brewery. Excellent Service, good athmosphere and very comfortable rooms. The 2 Restaurants are an absolute Highlight and deserve an extra star. We were there for the Dublin Marathon and missed nothing. Bravo !

Great Dublin and away location

The hotel is across the street from the bus/tram/train (Euston) station. It is a very nice, upscale hotel.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

I would probably recommend one of those touristy bus tours that drop you off at multiple stops to see Dublin, if you have never been to Dublin before. There is lots to see.

Many good points, a couple slight downers

For the most part the Ashling Hotel was a great place to stay. No complaints about the room itself other than a mini fridge would be great, but from my experience in European hotels that will probably never happen. Room had a TV with about 15 channels (mostly BBC), hot pot with coffee and tea supplies, and a trouser press in case you have really wrinkly pants I guess. Location-wise, the hotel is right near Heuston rail station and right in between the Heuston and Museum stops on the Luas. This is very convenient if you do any day trips out of Dublin via rail as we did. You can walk to Heuston in less than 5 minutes to get a train to the south and west. Or if you need a train from Connolly to go to Belfast or wherever you can get there via a 15 minute Luas ride. Plus the 748 bus to the airport drops off and picks up at Heuston, so you have to walk less than 5 minutes to get your luggage from bus to hotel when arriving or vice versa when leaving. The only downside of the location is that it is not all that close to the city center (Temple Bar, O'Connell St., etc.) While there are a couple decent pubs nearby (I'd recommend Ryan's, which is just up Parkgate St. toward the Phoenix Park), if you want shopping or restaurants you need to go elsewhere. However, the whole Jervis / Abbey St. / Henry and Mary St. shopping area is only 3 Luas stops away (10 minutes or less). Temple Bar and Grafton St. are a little farther as they require a Luas trip followed by a short walk (maybe 10 minutes) down and across the river (or alternatively a trip on the bus). If the red and green Luas lines were actually connected you wouldn't have to do this walk, but at present that's not the case. The Guinness Lounge in the hotel had pretty good food if you're hungry and don't feel like venturing too far. The Irish breakfast served in Cobblestones Bistro was good - the only problem is that it's the same exact selection every day. After a week I got tired of eating the exact same fried eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and toast every morning. One downside is that you can't check into your room until 2 PM. So if you take an overnight flight from the U.S. and arrive at 8:30 in the morning like we did, you have a few groggy hours to kill before you can get a shower or a nap. They do, however, have a room where you can leave your luggage until check-in which is nice (although there's no lock on the door so keep the cameras etc. with you). All in all if you plan to spend some time in Dublin but also plan to explore the country via rail, this hotel is incredibly convenient. If you're not planning to venture outside of Dublin itself, you'd be better served by a hotel closer to the city center area.
