Built in the late nineteenth century as a private residence, Shiv Ni was Palace, a crescent shaped edifice on the southern end of the City Palace Complex is today an outstanding luxury hotel. The hotel overlooks Lake Pichola and provides spectacular views of Jagmandir a man made pleasure island and the Aravali mountain range as a backdrop. True to the architectural style of Mewar, the hotel is dotted with projecting balconies of perfect proportion and elegance. Crowning it are domed pavilions and hidden courtyards. Terrace Suites have private terraces overlooking a courtyard, which has in its cent re a swimming pool of limpid blue. The Paantya restaurant serves outstanding continental and Indian cuisine, and it overlooks the undulating vistas of Udaipur city. The outdoor Poolside restaurant caters Indian delicacies. Live classical music under magnificent Rajasthani champa trees makes this an unusually romantic setting. The Pane era Bar, adjacent to the swimming pool is a perfect place to unwind after the sightseeing jaunts of the day. The Sunset Terrace offers panoramic vistas and fine dining, and the crisp air of Rajasthan helps create a magic all its own.
