OK for a night or two
We were placed in the Aster or Astra property, a hotel adjacent to Grand Park Inn. The hotel is very clean, the staff very helpful, but it is located in a busy street with auto shops, so it is quite noisy, unless you ask for a room that does not look over the street.

You have to go to eat somewhere else. WE did not even try the food on the premises, although they have a clean eatery in the basement. It looked as if they would bring in the food from somewhere, so we did not risk it, but took a taxi to Carol Bagh (Janpath) and ate at the McDonalds there.

As a couple touring India for the first time, we enjoyed the hotel very much. The hotel arranged for airport pickup at ~400 ruppees, which is a fair price (about30-40 minute drive) It is close to center attractions in Delhi (50-100 ruppees for auto-riksha/ 15 minute ride to center). The neighbourhood seems bleak at first, but it is safe and lively during daytime including fine family restaurant and the karol-bagh market. The hotel staff is freindly and helpful. Our room was clean and a bit nosiy during the day but OK during nighttime. I believe it is a great choice for those on a economy budget (less than 100$ room) and recommend it to other travelers. The toughest part about Delhi, is getting to the govermental tourist office (there are many private copy-cats) and the drivers won't take you to the right tourist office. It is crutial in order to have disent priced tours. Be sure you get to "DELHI TOURISM" next to coffee-home and see that you are not in a private office.
