The hotel is a mere 10 minutes walk from Connaught Place, known as the central business district of New Delhi, and most airline offices. The hotel is a 30 minutes drive from the airport. Its close proximity to key markets and other places of interest, including Sadar Bazaar, Karol Bagh, Palika Bazaar, Janpath, Jantar Mantar etc. make it an all time favorite place for tourists.

OK...but needs some training

Indian explorer
Just okay place
I wasn't too impressed with the Ajanta -- the location was great if you were coming in to the New Delhi train station but otherwise it is a loud and utterly chaotic place. I never had hot water to shower or water pressure to even get fully wet without considerable effort. I would never stay there again.

There are some great stalls nearby to order foot if you are game to eat on the street. I did three times for about $2 with no I'll effects.

Budget hotel on a noisy road
I stayed in this hotel in November for 4 nights, and my experience was mixed. This hotel is located on a VERY busy road and it is impossible to ignore the noise of blaring horns during the day if you are resting. In the night its okay, staff is friendly but inefficient. Airport pickup is prompt and free. One day I found no towels in the bathroom after housekeeping was done. The safe wont open. Construction debris near my room.The front desk does not pick up phone often and are not prompt in responding. Restaurant food is below average and expensive. Watery scrambled eggs and poha for breakfast is ridiculous. The tours and cab service is pricey but convenient. The problem with booking a tour or taxi from here is that the driver will DEFINITELY make you stop at their preferred shops even if you object. The taxi drives will say they are obligated to stop at shops. I wasted so much time in these shops, and the hotel gets a commission for sure. If you book a taxi to Agra to see Taj..INSIST on taking the Yamuna expressway..will cost your few hundred rupee more in tolls but WORTH not sitting in India's traffic on NH-8. If you can, spend $50/night more and look for a better place. Oh..and the owner please dont bother replying to this in your cookie-cutter form response.

nice hotel
THere was some noise but not while you are asleep the traffic will wake you up about 6am, room/staff was courteous and rooms were well maintained. Railway is within wallking distance as well as the Delhi Metro...the station is New Delhi and all metro pass is 100 Rupye although the hotel's Delhi site seeing prices were not bad there were plenty of local sight seeing booking places so ask around. Overall nice experience and would come again. Can't beat free airport pickup just call and tell them.

Ajanta Hotel
Hotel was clean, located in an "interesting place near the New Delhi Railway Station. People the ran the hotel were friendly and helpful. Restaurant was inexpensive and ok. Pick up at the airport was good and on time. You must pay for airport return. Wireless internet in the room cost $2 per day. I recommend this hotel to those the want inexpensive but convienent lodging.

Stayed twice in a week. First
Stayed twice in a week. First night my "ensuite" was across the hallway. Second stay I was upgraded to the new wing - City View Cottages" behind hotel - very nice. Excellent service - restuarant was acceptable. Hey this IS Delhi afterall. Not on my list of "100 cities I must re-visit"!

Good overall service, and friendly
Good overall service, and friendly staff. Restaurant upstairs serves excellent curry dishes. Liquor store nearby, and train station close to hotel. Construction noise was minimally disturbing. Recommended hotel for travelers wanting walking-distance access to train station, and fairly central access to Delhi's sites.

For a budget traveler Ajanta Hotel
For a budget traveler Ajanta Hotel is good only that the room under standard located just next to the road and sometimes frightened due to sudden noise on the street. Impressed by the service especially airport pick up. Others good. Thanking you.

The Ajanta is located in a hotel row near the New Delhi railway station. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Restaurant is clean and safe. Overall it is slightly less spiffy than a mid range American hotel, but comparable to a mid range European hotel. The location is central, an easy taxi rickshaw ride to most attractions, and both much cheaper and more entertaining than the sterile 5 star hotels of Connought Place. An hour after we arrived there was a colorful Lord Krishna parade down the street in front of the hotel. They have helpful travel agents on site who can arrange trips to the Taj and beyond--just say no firmly to the shopping experiences,
