It is in this beautiful city of Jaisalmer that the Gorbandh Palace is ideally located. The very name of this Royal Retreat is inspired by the desert and its associated stories. Gorbandh is a harness which the desert women decorate for their husband's camel with any material they can find such as cowry shells, beads, sequins, colored threads and even buttons. It is a matter of pride for women to deck their husband's camels out in the most splendid way possible as a mark of respect for this majestic working beast and for the men who rely on their strength and aptitude in the undulating sands of the desert. In this luxurious Royal Retreat you can enjoy all modern-day amenities in an authentic Rajasthani ambiance. The retreats lush greenery, fountains, state of the art spa and the blue waters of its swimming pool create a tranquil haven from the heat and dust of the desert city. Also nearby are the famous Sam sand dunes, where you can party or stay overnight. Additional Charges: Charges for the services used by the guests in the hotel apart from room and taxes will be collected from the guest directly. Note: Xmas Gala Dinner Rs.1500.00 Per Person and New Year Eve Gala Dinner Rs.3000.00 Per Person. Airport pick can be arranged on extra cost upon request. The rooms are modern and clean, with Flat Screen TVs, laminate flooring. Pool facility is great. Staff are friendly. But I was there in May when temperatures reached a scorching 117 degrees F. Management was too CHEAP to turn on the A/C during the
day. At night time, the A/C did not work, it was still 100 degrees in the rooms. Complained twice, changed rooms, but still the same. Did NOT get any good sleep because it was too hot! No excuse for a 4 star hotel not to have Air conditioning.
The hotel is very nice and clean, we were greeted by a cool 'khus' drink, even though it was a rather late check-in. The staff is very friendly. The facade is gorgeous, the rooms are clean, the dining is great. The only complaint was that the
wi-fi did not work in the lobby, although it was supposed to be working. Although you are on a vacation, we all know we need to be connected, so for a hotel that is really quite top-notch, and for the price you expect those 'small' things to work!
