young couple

There was a not short waiting line when we checked in. The hotel is a little bit away from the central town. It won't be a problem if you rent a car. Breakfast is ok.

Romantic getaway

I expected the hotel to have a lot more amenities. The bed was a "king" bed which was two singles pushed together and my boyfriend and I could not sleep completely together comfortably. Had to drive to the city center which was a bit of a hassle.

Perfect Hotel for a Weekend in Reykjavik

I was very surprised at the excellence of this hotel given that I have often paid much more for a travelodge or premier inn back in the UK when on business. the staff were fantastic, the room was indeed luxurious with great views and the location was perfect as we hired a car. Free parking, free wifi, a superb breakfast included and lots of amenities in the room. We will most definitely return to this hotel again when back in Iceland and that says a lot as we do not usually go back to the same place twice no matter what the experience. FANTASTIC!!!!

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Hire a car from Hertz for approx 40 pound for the entire weekend (do this online). It saves on transport and you are free to go off and find the lights, visits the blue lagoon and not have to keep time. In Winter the roads are not scary as they are well kept (for us brits) and the cars are geared up with snow tyres the lot

The Grand

I found all the staff very polite and helpful, food is good with a large selection for breakfast ,very tasty evening meal although very expensive. My room was on the 5th floor overlooking the antrium hence no view but as daylight hours are now closing in it was of no concern to me, I went there to see a volcano not gaze out of hotel windows. The room was cleaned and tidied everyday ,nice bed and pillows, close the windows and no noise from antrium, only noise came from inconsiderate guests in other rooms who like dragging their chairs across the wooden floors. The hotel is situated very close to a cross roads with ample buses on both routes which will take you to and from town centre bus terminal for 350 isk. Just around the corner near another large hotel there is a row of restaurants and pizza parlours where the locals eat, should you require food less expensive than the hotel. Cash machine in lobby, which you will need if you buy drinks at the bar. Supermarket approx 5 mins walk behind houses across dual carriageway. all in all a nice hotel and I would stay there again.

Perfect hotel break

Had a wonderful stay at this classy hotel. I was not expecting the luxurious surroundings. Staff extremely efficient. The breakfast choice was amazing. My room was a great size with ensuite bathroom. There was a sophisticated feel to this hotel and would recommend it to all. Will definately stay here again.

a mixed bag and a warning, try to stay away from teh Atrium rooms

First of all, my giving staff 2 out of 5 is not fair. Some of the stuff were perfectly nice, some were fantastic, but some were straight rude and impolite. The gentlemen at the bars were an example for that. Not feeling welcome and being ignored is a little but to much for my taste. Breakfast was great, even a organic variety of stuff, espresso and other coffee specialties available. I am no fan of the generic scrambled eggs, but this days that seems to be a standard. A word as a warning. The rooms that look onto the atrium are extremely loud. poeaple come back home late or leave early, and you will be live there, hearing everything. Or people will smoke on the balcony and have a nice coughing session, it's all yours. Again, beautiful house, bit pricey, great breakfast, some really nice staff, some really rude stuff, clean well located.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Close by are a row of pretty good international options (close to teh Hilton) but as everything in Iceland, bring your big boy wallet, this country is the most expensive I have been so far and I have seen a big part of the world

Trip to Eve FanFest

I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights while attending Eve FanFest. It's a bit of a walk to city center (took about 30 mins or so to hike to HARPA) but was a good way to see the city and scenery. I absolutely loved the hotel. Very comfortable room, excellent shower, great breakfast selection. Hotel staff was great and let me check in several hours ahead of normal times to catch up on sleep.
