Nice centrally located Hotel
I recently stayed 4 nights at Fron Hotel Reykjavik. I was very pleased with the room, the staff and especially the location. The hotel is located on the main shopping street in Reykjavik and within walking distance of every major site in town. The room was not large but very clean and comfortable. The high ceiling in my room made it seem much bigger that it was. It came with a kitchen including everything you would need to eat in your room (there was a grocery store within a couple of blocks of the hotel, so eating in your room would be an option). The bathroom was spotless. I can imagine that a large person would have trouble with the shower. As in all Iceland, the hot water is plentiful and hot! The morning breakfast was very good. Don't forget to eat your fill of Skyr (yogurt only better) while in Iceland. The staff I met was friendly and helpful booking tours for me and answering all my dumb tourist questions with a smile. I never ate in the attached restaurant so I can't speak to the quality of the food but there is a 10% discount for meals eaten there by hotel guests. All and all a very pleasant stay in Iceland at Fron Hotel.

I would normally avoid tours but the standard tours in Iceland are an exception. Be sure to do the Southern Coast tour. You will see some things that will blow your mind.

Affordable accomodation, friendly staff
I was looking for a clean and affordable place where I can crash at since I was planning to be out and about for most of the day . The staff is very friendly and let us check in early . Helped us with the tour reservations and gave us suggestions on restuarants. This is not the fanciest of the restuarants but again I wasn't looking for one. The beds are comfortable and the noise was minimal though my room was close to the building entrance

Perfect Location, Friendly People!
It is in the heart of Relativity, with an attached restaurant it was just brilliant. They Receptionists were really helpful and understanding when ever we needed any help or when we were booking specific tours. Other reviews I noticed talked about it being noisy? I did not think this was at all an issue, although the Icelandic people do enjoy a good party here and there (or till 5am in our case) The beds were clean and very comfortable, the toilet was also clean and the kitchenette was very useful however it did not have a kettle, which I think would have made this hotel 10/10. I do like my tea, however the inclusive breakfast served from 7am did actually serve tea etc. As other people have stated, the shower water does smell like eggs (sulphur) But as you will discover, this smell pretty much follows you around from the moment you get off the plane till you are on your way home. No biggey! (the tap waters ARE drinkable, so do not waste your money buying bottled water) Overall I would certainly recommend, and visit again!

I would recommend that you check reviews on restaurants in the area, and compare prices, as it CAN get a little on the expensive side, but if there are locals in the place, ITS A GOODEN!

Great location, small rooms, great service
We weren't happy with our room because of its size, and the staff was kind enough to upgrade our room at no charge. Really nice of them. Wifi signal was enough to check the email and whatnot, but it was rather slow in both rooms we had, so I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than checking your email. Breakfast was fine. No hot food, but plenty of everything else. Can't say enough about how great the location is!

Excellent Location
Room was very spacious and clean with mini- bar fridge. Also had sink and stove if one wanted to make some meals in room. Bed was soft, but very comfortable even though we are used to firmer beds.. Just 2-3 blocks to the street that leads up to the spectacular church (Hallgrimskirkja). Very good shopping streets.

The sculpture museum right by the Hallgrimskirkja was closed, but its garden was open and it had a dozen or so pieces in a beautiful little park setting.

Young and Active
Location is Perfect for the young and active. Right on the main road for tourist bits. 2 minutes walk to the bay, 5 minutes walk to the boat tours. Free parking is great, if you have to pay $2 / hr is not bad either, and the meters are only active 10a-6p weekdays, and 10a-2p weekends. AC = Un necessary, window can be opened just fine. Heating is exceptional, lifts were clean and rooms cleaned daily, they didnt mind cleaning while worked on our computers and were in the room. Kitchen area is great, we cooked dinners to save money. The bar "BOSTON" next door is a treat, owner's family will drink with you! Locals are exceptionally nice, and the staff didnt mind replacing my lost key for the 11th time on our 8th day there.

Take the FlyBus to and from the airport ($19/person), Its half the cost of a cab. Rent your car from in town and drive the country, it is absolutely beautiful.

Amazing value for money. Staff in reception was extremely friendly and I was even talked in spanish by one of them, Tor. Helga was also so friendly. Breakfast area was being rebuilt but a good option was given in the restaurant next door. The breakfast selection was good having in mind the price paid. Room was very clean and the internet was completely free. But the location was definitely the best thing, being right in the centre of the town with all the action happening at the hotel doorstep. Second time using this hotel and no regrets whatsoever. 200% recommendable. Icelandic friendliness made the rest of our stay unforgetable.

Thanksgiving in Iceland
The Fron Hotel is right in the middle of the busiest downtown street, great for shopping, eating or partying. The staff was very good with assistance with tours or questions about the city. Rooms were a bit basic, but large and clean. Room temp was great, water temp and pressure was great. I would return to this hotel.

Great location and good-size room
Unlike most other nonluxury European hotel rooms, our room for two was surprisingly roomy. It came with two twin beds pushed together but also a comfy couch large enough for my daughter to sleep on, plus a mini fridge, a microwave, and even a cooker. The location, right on the main shopping street and just a short walk from the harbor, the duck pond, and scores of restaurants, couldn't be beat. And perhaps best (albeit luckiest) of all, when we arrived at 8:30am, a room was ready for us to check in--we didn't have to wait until the official afternoon check-in time.
