Great design, comfortable room

We traveled in Iceland over winter solstice...our room was a perfect place to enter the dark season and adapt our body clocks...Very comfortable and cozy, gorgeous bathroom, excellent and abundant breakfast buffet. We would stay here again for many more days. Perfect central location in the capital.

Girls together

My daughter and myself had a very good stay at this hotel, from the helpful staff to the comfortable roomand public rooms. The bistro was excellent and very good value with 20 off for hotel residents. The breakfast which was included was very good too. The three trips we went on were ordered at reception very easily .The only downside was a very noisy club which was next door anc kept us awake on our last night. The hotel spa was also brilliant although not included in the lrice

Amazing experience

My daughter and I had an excellent four nights at the Centrum Thingholt. The Bistro food was superb and with 20 off for residents the price was very reasonable. The free breakfast was as good as any hotel in any other capital city we have visited. The three trips were excellent value with very well informed guides with the typical Icelandic humour. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful. The only downside was a very noisy club next door which kept us awake till the early hours. You would neec to check whetner this was functioning every night during the xummer season, which had just begun that night.

Great location, lovely staff, amazing rooms

After reading other reviews from others that it was a good idea to request a quiet room that's exactly what we did. Our room was on the 4th floor which was lovley, very clean and spacious with plenty of room for our stuff. It didn't bother us that the bathrooms are housed in opaque glass, the shower is amazing with the option of a rain or power shower. The only thing we missed was that there was no coat hook unless you hang your coats in the wardrobe which we didn't want to do after they'd gotten soggy in the snow. The staff in the hotel could not be more helpful or informative. There is nothing they won't do for you. The hotel is in the perfect location too just a short walk from the tower where you can see the most amazing views of reykjavik, it's a few minutes walk from the harbour with bars and restaurants all around and on nights you don't fancy eating out staff are happy to order in for you. The breakfast in the hotel was what you would expect for a continental breakfast with a variety of hot or cold food, fresh fruit and pastries. The coffee was amazing. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant but the food smelt delicious. On our last night my boyfriend treated us to an upgrade as a surprise. The room was 214 and wow. The bath next to the bed was a nice romantic surprise but was also the perfect way to warm up after being out in Sunday's blizzard. We didn't use the spa because it was an extra €25 each. I personally don't think you should be charged to use the spa but it looked very nice. Overall center hotel thinghołt is a lovely boutique hotel. The location is great and I would defiantly stay here again and recomend it to anyone thinking of going to Iceland.

4 night break

Visited the hotel with my girlfriend in January for 4 nights. Awesome location, good price, the relaxation pool was great but steam room was a bit scruffy. Breakfast was good. Staff were on the whole friendly and helpful but one girl let the side down, seemed dis-interested and was pretty abrupt and almost rude on occasion. Standard room was nice. Airy and modern with good tv, heating and was cleaned well everyday. Would definitely reccomend.

Comfortable, friendly hotel

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Thingholt. The rooms were clean and very comfortable (good size, good beds, great shower), the staff exceedingly friendly and the breakfast good. The only criticism would be the noise on the weekend (there is a club just across the street, so earplugs are recommended), and the fact that unpainted concrete can look a bit ouf of place in a hotel room - but that is a matter of taste.

Great Location!

There are Centerhotels all over Reykjavik but Thingholt is great! The room was spacious. The bathroom was also a nice size and the bed was super comfortable. Reception was excellent- always very helpful. Breakfast, included in the room rate, was delicious and plentiful. There was a great variety, from eggs, to skyr (Icelandic yogurt), to lox and pickled herring (if that's your thing!) Thingholt is located off of the major shopping street and is a very close walk to downtown. There is also a public bus nearby. We stayed during the week but I hear that staying in the front of the hotel can be noisy on the weekend- ask for a room in the back on a higher floor.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Stop by the International Tourism Mall. It is a very short walk away from Centerhotel Thingholt. They are open at 9 AM and have information on tours and things to do around Reykjavik. I recommend the Welcome Card, which includes the bus and entrance to many museums and attractions around Reykjavik. It is available for different amounts of time. You must also go see the Golden Circle!
