Good Value In City Center
It's a good value in a great location. The rooms, however, aren't in fantastic shape, and you'd do well to request a room in the newer wing of the hotel. The older rooms (which we were originally placed in, and requested a new room due to the refrigerator not working) are pretty beat up. Cheap wood furniture decorates the older rooms, most of it with dents and scuffs. Decor in the older rooms would be classifed as minimal; you pretty much get a TV (an old one at that), a nightstand and a bed that's very soft. The new wing of the hotel, by contrast, is much nicer, with modern fixtures, a mounted HDTV, new bathrooms, and new plush carpeting. Usually I"m not a fan of carpeting in hotels, but it works here.

Hotel in Iceland
The hotel was unlike it was described in their on-line posting. No robes, no facial tissues, inconsistent changing of towels (which were very thin and ordinary). The staff was great and helpful, but the first room they placed me in had a small window the looked out on a grey cement wall about 10 feet away. It was not what I intended to book. I managed to get my room changed on the third day of my stay - up to the fifth floor, corner room, looking out on the plaza. Hard to open the window though, the piece that allows it to be opened all the way was missing. The maid finally took the information book in the room and used it as a substitute for the missing piece. Breakfast was awful. used it once and went out for a yogurt the rest of my 18 day stay.

Very good value, great location
I was in town on business. The Central Plaza Hotel was convenient to the place of business as well as being centrally located and within easy walking to all downtown shopping, dinning and sites of interest. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and the breakfast was very good.

Great Centrally Located Hotel
The hotel was great... they let me check in early and the room was a clean, simple, Scandanavian design. The front desk was helpful and polite. And the breakfast was more than adequate and full of various options.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
The 2 main shopping streets start just 2 block from the hotel. And lots of boutiques right around the corner from the hotel. Also on Sat & Sun there is an indoor flea market about 1.5 blocks from the hotel and it was really fantastic!

Nice and quaint in the City Center
We could not have been more pleased with the location and staff at the Plaza Hotel. The hotel is centrally lcoated, just near everything in town. It's on a beautiful street... close to the action, but just a block away to make it great. The room was alright... the shower needs a bit of upgrading... and they probably should invest in a system to de sulfurize the water... and make it not too stinky. We only slept in the hotel room as there is too much to see in the city to hang out at the hotel. Breakfast was good... not amazing... and a good happy hour. Staff is awesome.

Appreciates Value
Great Value!
This was our first trip to Iceland and there were five of us traveling together. All staff were extremely helpful in helping us arrange excursions, explaining how to get around, giving suggestions as to what to do, where to eat, etc. The breakfast that is included with the room price is great - lots of choices, including hot dishes, a variety of breads, cereals, and fresh fruit. Generally, we found the cost of things in Iceland to be very expensive, but the room price, with breakfast included, was probably the best deal of all!

Great Iceland Getaway
The front desk staff members were very friendly and helpful. Upon request, they gave me various excellent recommendations during my stay in Iceland. They offered many suggestions in regards to restaurants, shopping, and the best tours. With each inquiry, they gave me directions using a local map.
