Elegant building was once home to a Hungarian nobleman

Budapest's royal past welcomes guests at this historic property. The hotel is in the former residence of a Hungarian nobleman, Count Nandor Zichy. Though the hotel's design and lobby are true to its history, the service, amenities, and room decor are modern. A glass roof provides natural sunlight for guests as they eat the complimentary breakfast buffet. The roof also allows nightime star-gazing for guests as they enjoy cocktails from the lobby bar.

Highlights

  • Former residence of a Hungarian nobleman
  • Close to public transportation
  • Free buffet breakfast served in glass-roofed restaurant
  • Complimentary high-speed Internet throughout hotel

Rooms

The Hotel Palazzo Zichy houses 80 rooms and suites with full amenities. Patterns and rich fabrics add a classic twist to the modern room décor. Room amenities include soundproof windows, complimentary high-speed Internet, flat-screen television with satellite channels, laptop-sized safes, and bidets. Non-smoking floors are available.

Features

The complimentary hotel fitness room has cardiovascular and strength-training equipment. The wellness area -- open 24 hours per day, seven days a week -- also has a sauna. Guests take advantage of the towels and bottled water that are provided free of charge.

Guests can quench their thirst with free coffee, tea, and mineral water in the lobby until 5 p.m. The lobby bar is open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Pleasant

Overall the hotel was great and I would stay again. The staff was very welcoming, informative, helpful and accommodating. I had a problem and the hotel staff worked effectively and efficiently to find a solution which meant a lot. The Hotel is well kept and the location seemed pretty safe. It is a 5min walk from the tram and Hop on/off bus which is convenient or the hotel will call you a taxi which typically takes 5mins to arrive. A 20 minute walk takes you to the city center and most of the touristy locations. The hotel does not have clocks or washcloths so plan accordingly. The breakfast buffet included a variety of breads, cheeses, cold meats and drinks. The hot breakfast includes eggs in 3 styles, veggies and bacon. Their are also complimentary drinks throughout the day. The Hotel is definitely worth the cost and worth a recommendation.

Simply Amazing

As a retired Diplomat I traveled my fair share in my life so when I write a review it is due to the fact the Place was Very awful or very Special. The Palazzo Zichy Hotel was 100% the latter. From Check inn to Check out the whole experience was first class. The Room was simply breathtaking from the full walk in shower to the Jacuzzi. Breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel and even the recommended restaurant, called Borsso, which is fantastic by the way, ( Recommended by reception), The Staff in Borsso said that they go to The Palazzo Zichy Hotel for Breakfast !!.. It is not in the center, however , I will guarantee that will not matter and will also guarantee that everybody who stays, will be redecorating there bedrooms when they return home. Simply Amazing

Great Hotel

We were very pleased with our stay at Palazzo Zichy Hotel. Location worked well for us, front desk was wonderful. A special thank you to Carolina! Room was not very large but worked out fine. Enjoyed the fantastic breakfast that was included, fresh & delicious. Also the complimentary water during the day. Would definitely return!

First Class Hotel & Staff

Both the hotel and staff were outstanding. The rooms were spotless as was the whole of the hotel area and at the reception area they placed a large bowl were you could help yourself to lovely apples. The same applied in the wellness centre (fitness area) where again they kept bottles of cold mineral water and a supply of apples for you to help yourself. The wellness centre consisted of a treadmill, bike and weights plus they have an outstanding sauna. The breakfast room was run very well though I personally found that after one week breakfast was a little bit of repetition with the same hot breakfasts. It would have been nice to have some scrabbled eggs and it was a pity that the boiled eggs were served cold instead of keeping them hot plus the fried eggs are sitting too long but overall everything was done well. One area which is quite pleasing is the sitting area were you can help yourself to free tea, coffee or mineral water. I have never drank so much coffee in place of tea. First class and it would be a harder hotel to find for the price.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

In the small side street facing the hotel are several restaurants and pubs. On our first night we tried the Don Leonne Restaurant and the meal for 3 people with a drink cost me £26 which was great value as I had a fillet beef steak (2 occasions) and it was the best steak I have tried in a very long time. If you turn left as you leave the hotel this takes you onto Baross Utca(main road).Go straight across this road and turn right into Ulloi Ut and within 5 minutes you will come across a great selection of restaurants where again we had a fantastic meal at reasonable prices. This is a good area for night time eating if you do not wish to travel into the city centre.
