Elegant building was once home to a Hungarian nobleman

Budapest's royal past welcomes guests at this historic property. The hotel is in the former residence of a Hungarian nobleman, Count Nandor Zichy. Though the hotel's design and lobby are true to its history, the service, amenities, and room decor are modern. A glass roof provides natural sunlight for guests as they eat the complimentary breakfast buffet. The roof also allows nightime star-gazing for guests as they enjoy cocktails from the lobby bar.

Highlights

  • Former residence of a Hungarian nobleman
  • Close to public transportation
  • Free buffet breakfast served in glass-roofed restaurant
  • Complimentary high-speed Internet throughout hotel

Rooms

The Hotel Palazzo Zichy houses 80 rooms and suites with full amenities. Patterns and rich fabrics add a classic twist to the modern room décor. Room amenities include soundproof windows, complimentary high-speed Internet, flat-screen television with satellite channels, laptop-sized safes, and bidets. Non-smoking floors are available.

Features

The complimentary hotel fitness room has cardiovascular and strength-training equipment. The wellness area -- open 24 hours per day, seven days a week -- also has a sauna. Guests take advantage of the towels and bottled water that are provided free of charge.

Guests can quench their thirst with free coffee, tea, and mineral water in the lobby until 5 p.m. The lobby bar is open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Simply wonderful experience!

I have just returned from a 5 night stay at this hotel . The experience from beginning to end was superb, staff are professional , rooms, though a little small and public areas are spotlessly clean , breakfast is amazing with an excellent choice of fresh and cooked food which was replenished throughout without hesitance. As a guest you may take water , tea and a range of coffee in the lounge area across from reception all of which are free of charge until 5pm. Rooms are well furnished with plenty of storage and a bathroom with bath and rain shower over, the bed was a little hard for me but my partner said it was most comfortable. There were a number of local restaurants nearby , all providing excellent home cooked food from a wide and varied menu , Don Leone was a particular favourite of mine and their Goulash soup and Orange Garden Salad (Duck) was eaten on a regular basis. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from Central Pest i.e main tourist areas but trams and metros are readily available close by should you prefer. The many sites of Budapest are wonderful and the hotel reception staff will book anything you wish them too, they will also recommend restaurants, thermal baths and book taxis and airport transfers too. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel , it is exceptionally good value in my opinion. The one thing I would have liked in the room was a coat stand or hooks on which to hang damp coats , although wardrobe space is plentiful a simple hook on the wall or back of the door would have been better.

Great for couples

Pros: Clean, contemporary style, nicely located, helpful staff (including emails), awesome buffet breakfast, sauna and lounge to relax, free wifi. Cons: Toilet is located behind washroom's door in some suites so enter carefully :) King size bed has actually two twin mattresses.

Entertainment tip: Long walk from hotel

Book up the Opera House as soon as possible. Unbelievable experience for a fraction of the price of London. We saw the Nutcracker for £26 a head, and the performances were superb.

Pleasant

Overall the hotel was great and I would stay again. The staff was very welcoming, informative, helpful and accommodating. I had a problem and the hotel staff worked effectively and efficiently to find a solution which meant a lot. The Hotel is well kept and the location seemed pretty safe. It is a 5min walk from the tram and Hop on/off bus which is convenient or the hotel will call you a taxi which typically takes 5mins to arrive. A 20 minute walk takes you to the city center and most of the touristy locations. The hotel does not have clocks or washcloths so plan accordingly. The breakfast buffet included a variety of breads, cheeses, cold meats and drinks. The hot breakfast includes eggs in 3 styles, veggies and bacon. Their are also complimentary drinks throughout the day. The Hotel is definitely worth the cost and worth a recommendation.

Simply Amazing

As a retired Diplomat I traveled my fair share in my life so when I write a review it is due to the fact the Place was Very awful or very Special. The Palazzo Zichy Hotel was 100% the latter. From Check inn to Check out the whole experience was first class. The Room was simply breathtaking from the full walk in shower to the Jacuzzi. Breakfast was the best I have ever had in a hotel and even the recommended restaurant, called Borsso, which is fantastic by the way, ( Recommended by reception), The Staff in Borsso said that they go to The Palazzo Zichy Hotel for Breakfast !!.. It is not in the center, however , I will guarantee that will not matter and will also guarantee that everybody who stays, will be redecorating there bedrooms when they return home. Simply Amazing

Fabulous Neighborhood Hotel

Our experience was first rate! The staff was helpful in every way, their knowledge of the City, assisting with local transportation, arranging tours. The breakfast is first class with many fresh foods and a great variety. Wonderful coffee. We had no prior experience with this hotel, but we would highly recommend it.We have stayed in other four star hotels, which would give the Zichy a five star Plus!

Great hotel and staff

Great couldn't fault it at all. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean. Only one slight comment, although tea coffee making facilities available for free til 5pm. shame not available in room, as have to pay after 5pm. The breakfast buffet had fantastic selection and did not need to eat till dinner!
