Elegant building was once home to a Hungarian nobleman

Budapest's royal past welcomes guests at this historic property. The hotel is in the former residence of a Hungarian nobleman, Count Nandor Zichy. Though the hotel's design and lobby are true to its history, the service, amenities, and room decor are modern. A glass roof provides natural sunlight for guests as they eat the complimentary breakfast buffet. The roof also allows nightime star-gazing for guests as they enjoy cocktails from the lobby bar.

Highlights

  • Former residence of a Hungarian nobleman
  • Close to public transportation
  • Free buffet breakfast served in glass-roofed restaurant
  • Complimentary high-speed Internet throughout hotel

Rooms

The Hotel Palazzo Zichy houses 80 rooms and suites with full amenities. Patterns and rich fabrics add a classic twist to the modern room décor. Room amenities include soundproof windows, complimentary high-speed Internet, flat-screen television with satellite channels, laptop-sized safes, and bidets. Non-smoking floors are available.

Features

The complimentary hotel fitness room has cardiovascular and strength-training equipment. The wellness area -- open 24 hours per day, seven days a week -- also has a sauna. Guests take advantage of the towels and bottled water that are provided free of charge.

Guests can quench their thirst with free coffee, tea, and mineral water in the lobby until 5 p.m. The lobby bar is open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Excellent standard

I was very happy at this hotel. The staff were friendly, without being nosey, and the ambience was very pleasant. The room was large, and the bathroom a good size too. Breakfast was ample and constantly refreshed. My only complaint was that the taxi I ordered through the hotel took me to the wrong train station - probably my fault for not specifying! The location of the hotel is very good - in a pleasant square and not on a main road. I would happily stay at the Palazzo Zichy again, and indeed hope to before long.

Excellent Business Hotel

I travel extensively and am very critical of hotels. So it is refreshing to have such a great experience and at a price point that is almost too good to be to be true. The entire staff was consistently professional and very-very helpful. The room was comfortable and tastefully appointed. The shower was fantastic. The breakfast buffet was as good as it gets with quality and variety for anyone. My only wish is for the fitness center to have more equipment, but that said, I was able to get my workouts in without compromise. I would stay here again and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Terrific hotel!!

This hotel is great. Location is in a nice quiet location but with good restaurants a few doors away. Breakfast is varied, fresh and delicious. Staff is best, they go over and above to be helpful.

Great hotel

Great hotel - the rooms were nice and clean, the breakfast was good, the staff was super helpful and friendly. The location was nice - the hotel is located at a quiet part of town, not central to most touristic attractions, but very close and definitely walkable.

We'd go back

The room is clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel is not on a busy street. The neighbourhood is good. People do sleep on benches all over Budapest, and that happens around the hotel too. There were no problems. The internet works well. The staff were wonderful. The breakfast (included) is excellent: bread, yogurt, fruit salad, cold cuts, bacon and eggs, juice, coffee. Coffee, tea and water are free throughout the day. It is a great location. We could walk anywhere in 40 minutes or less. The Metro is close but we didn't use it. There is a good selection of restaurants nearby. The only drawback about the hotel was that smoking is allowed in the cafe - bar (not the breakfast area). That's how it is all over Budapest. It seems like everyone smokes, and non-smoking sections just don't exist.

Comfortable, friendly and great location too

Good deal for a spotless, modern hotel room in a location that was walking distance / near metro. Also, plenty of restaurants all around both for tourists and locals. We stay on the 5th floor had a partial view of a nearby church and that was great. Breakfast was good and all together a very good. Must say Budapest is a wonderful city to visit...safe, clean and very friendly.

great place just poor location

very nice business traveler type hotel. the breakfast included was also very good and the staff was very welcoming. the biggest complaint is the location of this hotel in regards to the touristy stuff. Its a good 4 - 5 blocks away from downtown and maybe 20 min walk from the true budapest attractions. Didnt look that way on a map, but we know for next time!

First class, all around!

The staff of the Hotel Palazzo Zichy went above and beyond to make sure I had the best possible stay in Budapest. The hotel itself was impeccably clean and comfortable, the breakfast bar well stocked, and the location perfect. They gave out maps for walking tours and were incredibly helpful when it came to advice. I was only there for one night, but it could have been a week, it was so relaxing..

Gorgeous Five Star feel

Five star facility and service (with one exception). Beautiful rooms and impeccable service with a friendly smiles Breakfast was perfect in a beautiful sunken dining room, and free bar during the day was a lovely touch that we appreciated upon a return from touring and shopping and walking. Great location. THE EXCEPTION: One thing I recommend is a room as high as possible. Lower rooms are noisy in the morning, rushing water in pipes, and way too much door slamming at 7am. Room doors need to be redesigned to prevent all the banging-slamming noises. Hard to sleep after 7am if you are on holiday and not on business. Maybe that is the reason for Four Stars, not Five. Other than that, it is perfect.
